I don't think I really get the point of your rant. So a kiters comment won it. So what! First prize was either a kite or a sail so it stands to reason. And what the hell would a fisho or a yachtie want with either of those anyway.

I reckon the winner's caption was pretty funny and he's won an awesome prize. I'm not bitchin' about a kiter winning or about the prize. Congrats to the winner.

Here is my only gripe.

Nearly a thousand entries from up to 6 sporting groups...yeah i know we are the biggest...no argument there. Its not a kiteforum (as you called it) to them.

It was possible for the judges to choose a winner from hundreds of entries that were really funny but didn't make reference to one particular sport and exclude the others.

You know, all the GPS , bad driving, tide, hilux etc etc gags. The list goes on. Choosing one of these, written by a kiter or not, makes the outcome look fair and not biased toward one group. Gag is funny to EVERY group and funniest gag wins an awesome prize worth big bucks......easy.

I'm not saying that the judges are biased and I'm sure they 're not. But it can look that way to some people i know. When different groups compete for one prize, it makes sense to be seen to be neutral......choosing a neutral entry helps.

I guess being 30 years older than most respondants to this post, 20 years of which I was a poley myself, I worry ( maybe too much?) about what they think of us .

Like I said, no problem with a kiter winning, just our image I worry about. We don't need enemies on the water.......because we've made enough in councils.

A seabreeze.com.au competition wouldn't be complete without a forum post about the "wrong" winner or "wrong" caption being selected.

The goal of the comp was to give you a laugh, stimulate your senses & have a good time, and some lucky buggers walk away with prizes. I reckon we hit that target.

As always, we will continue to do our best, and aim to please most of the people, most of the time.

Firstly, be careful with your keyboard as what you opened this thread with may cause certain site sponsors or admin to stop offering the comps as you just sound like an ungrateful child, and secondly if a sponsor ( you know the people who put up the prizes we all want) that is fisho or yachty orientated told admin they had some fisho or yachty stuff to put up for grabs then you'd see a comp where the kiters aren't the main entrants.

Think about it mate, whats a guy that uses alvey reels going to do with a waroo etc??
