Was just putting together a 2010 Slingshot Lunacy - and noticed it has assymetrical fins!!!!! The inside is dead flat, and the outsides are a normal foil....

I havn't ridden it yet - probably will get a chance on the weekend, but has anyone else ridden one?
What does it do?
Why is it like that?
Is it noticable when riding?

Who think's it's going to catch on with everyone else? Surfers have been doing it for years - why hasn't it been tried on kiteboards?

why do companies still make 2 inch dagger fins? 1.5 is big enough as it is and has more than adequate grip.

and why is that poor custom being humiliated with 2 inch daggers hanging off it?

yeah ive riden the 132 a couple of times, i love the board. I use to ride 132 09 but i find the 10 abit lighter and the straps are better. But i can't say if i notice a change with the fins, but overall a excellent ride

u do get better grip out of bigger fins and tracking but as to the upwind thing it doesnt make huge difference if u can edge properly.

with big fins they tend to catch easier makn u trip etc un needingly aswell as when u pop they can catch a bit n throw u off - the release just isnt as smooth as a smaller fin.

with smaller fins u can have the same locked in tracking feeling if u edge properly, but u can break it out easier and have more fun with it, when u pop the release from the water is more consistent and smooth also.

if u use wake style fins (6 - 8 inches long but only an inch high) u get amazing track when u lock ur edge properly but it releases very quickly when u pop, u can also break it loose and slide around more freely and catch ur edge less..

or if u can track them down small cupped fins are money

as long as theyre less than 90 bucks im all for them.

i am riding both a 129 and 132 lunacy and love them. i find the bigger fins help a little bit when landing blind or wrapped as if the kite starts pulling in a funny direction the fins will help you stay on line for a second longer until you get the pass. when landing very fast ie: from a kiteloop the bigger fins help stop the board slipping out from under you. i am very happy with the big fins and have no intention of putting littler ones one.
i do agree with charldv in that littler fins do give you a little bit cleaner pop but once you get used to this board with the bigger fins you dont have any trouble at all.
not sure about what the assymetrical fins are suppost to do.the footstraps on the board are also super comfy and heaps grippy

I could be wrong but i wouldn't have thought these fins would make much diff on a 1.5" or 2" fin. Sure on a big-@rsed surfy fin but twinny fins?
