An update of our situation in Noosa. Firstly for all who wrote in submissions you will have all received a letter from the council and are already aware that the council has decided to work with us for this season to see if we can self regulate. This is only a probation time and by no means are we out of the woods yet. There is still some on the council who want to see all kiting banned. Marine Safety Queensland basically told the council they would not consider banning us from the river mouth because their has been no RECORDED incidents. So this is what they are seeking!!!
In light of some rescues perfomed by the lifegaurds about a week ago in the rivermouth of kiters who got sucked out and did not know how to perform a self rescue packdown. After consultationg with the lifegau Noosa Kiteboarding and Adventure Sports are joining together to put on a free clinic for this and other basic safety skills on the first sun of Nov.
Full details will be on the events page shortly but this day will be attended by a lifegaurd rep, coast gaurd rep and council rep. It will be covered by the media so youre attendance will be greatly appreciated even just to show the council we are serious about safety and not going to go down without one hell of a fight.
Bring your own equipment for the self rescue.
Hope to see all the usuals there and more, this is open to anyone who is in the area or even visiting, the bigger the crowd the better it looks.
on a final note HOW GOOD HAS THE WIND BEEN LATELY!!!!!!!!
gotta love it.

Great work Mike & George. At our Safety Seminar this Saturday we also have Surf Life Saving coming to do talks on kiting at flagged beaches, and the next one we are planning to include boat rescues and first aid. We had a number of emails from Sunny Coast riders asking us to include talks on what to do when getting rescued by boats and jetskis, so there is a demand from your riders up there. It was only last week at Dicky's Beach Surf Life Saving Club's Patrol Captains training course, one of the agenda was rescuing kiteboarders.
If you guys need any help let us know. I could tee up the local surf club to bring their rubber ducks to your event to practise boat rescues if wished.

We conducted a training session to Caloundra Council Lifeguards last year using the presentation prepared for AKSA by members of NSWKBA.
It was well received and did wonders for our credibility with Caloundra Council.
