Hi, I'm new to the sport and have just purchased a new 14m 2006 Waroo (last one left). Was thinking that a 14 would be good to start off with as i want to learn in light to moderate winds. However, now that Autumn is fast approaching and winter is on it's way I'm starting to think that purhaps the kite will be too big. Do we get stronger winds over autumn and winter? Should i purhaps be looking to get a 9 or there abouts? - Will be kiting in Vic, st.kilda, brighton etc.

Thinking i might have to trade my 14 in for a smaller option as cash is an issue...

Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers

Seems like you already know what to do .

14m in a Bow type kite, especially the Waroo is a BIG kite !

You could have got away wiyh a 12.
A 9m would be better for winter. A 14m is pretty useless in 20-30 knots!

That's not completely true-if you have a bit of weight a Waroo 14 will easily handle 20-25 knots and I have been out in 30 knots with my Waroo 14 . They have a lot of depower , but you need some weight (I'm 97kgs) and past the learning stage. Keep the Waroo 14 for the 15-25 knot days- it's a great kite. (And learn how to place the rear lines on the knots for adaptabilty- there's a lot of adjustment there, and every wind speed requires a different knot for optimum performance)
