Folks

I have been kiting in WA for a while now and I like to check the beaches / speak to the folks around to see where is ok to sail.
Do the WSKA provide a list of council or self enforced bans?

So far Cott & Leighton are out so kite at Dutchies
Peli and Point Walter are ok but what about breeding season for birds at Point Walter?
Lancelin was ok last time I was up but the windsurf guys did apreciate either kiting way up wind or down wind of their school.
Woodies is fine but does that mean Cogee between the sailing club and jetty is banned?
Anything I have got wrong or other issues to be aware of?

Kiting at point walter isn't where the birds are. The birds are between Alfred Cove (the bay up past the windsurfers) and the alternative point walter spot (just south of the boat ramp). People dont usually kite between these spots so it shouldnt be a problem. Also no one lives near point walter so I doubt whether there would be many complaints.

We are just finalising the Site Guides for each of these locations which you will find helpful. Keep an eye on wwww.waksa.org.au website. They should be online any tick of the clock.

Not strictly true. Last year the council?? erected some signs on the spit and even installed barriers to prevent people from going all the way out to the end due to breeding birdlife. Also many people like to wander out the spit especially on weekends and I've seen some bone heads boost across the spit when people (families and rate payers) are only 10-20m downwind of them. Play by the rules and use common sense so we don't end up on the councils radar!
