Does anybody know whether it would make sense to bring kites to bali in late jan and all of feb? We are going there to surf but would love to kite surf aswell. Is there any wind and in that case, where should we go?

I was talking to some locals yesterday at Legian and they reckon it cranks along the Kuta- Seminyak strip in Jan and Feb

They are taking small kites. 7mtr

I would at least take one set of gear and if you have to you can share.

jan and feb are like balis' windiest two months

You're gonna need to take your smallest kites

It cranks through just about everyday from sun up to sunset

But you have to know where to go...

Gylimanik (spelling?) Where the ferry to java docks is the kite capital of bali, the wind passing through the islands creates a weird thermal effect that garrantees wind at that time of year, that area also cops the same swells as g-land, so you can get waves and wind easy enough

Just don't tell anyone

Doctor why do you want to send people to where there is no wind!! With their smaller kite???
For your info Westerly are coming so who will be in Bali for Christmas will have some fun!

www.windguru.cz

Kuta is full on shore on westerly.. Tuban (near the airport) is Side On and can be ok but a bit choppy. Kite Beach in Sanur is perfect side shore but as the wind come over the land is a bit gusty. A 12m would be good 90% of the time with a surfboard for a 70 kilos rider..
For more info Google "Bali Kitesurfing"...
