I had heard that aceh has good consistent wind and a fair bit stronger than the rest of indo so I was doing a little googling the other day to try get an idea of how safe it is there now as in the past there was a lot of political turmoil and it wasn't considered a safe place to holiday.
From what I can tell it seems fairly safe BUT it is the only province in Indonesia governed by sharia law!!
Apparently it is illegal to be alone in the same room as somone of the opposite sex who is neither related to you or married to you- they also perform public canings apparently 167 official public canings since the law was introduced in around 2005!!
From what I could tell it seemed that westerners holidaying in aceh were not adversely effected by these laws but it's definitely something to bear in mind when considering a holiday.
So if your tripping through aceh maybe just keep it chill and i'd probably rule out any Australian- Indonesian romance if I were you
