Hi All

This is a notice to all kitesurfers who visit Botany Bay and in particular the area between the Novotel Baths and the first rock groyne.

Council have advised that there will be beach restoration works commencing from the 8/3/2010 to 31/3/2010.

The restoration works were scheduled to start at late notice due to the sudden availability of sand provided at no cost by Sydney Water.

The caveat to this was that the sand was required to be removed within a two week window from the 8/3/2003.

In lieu of this requirement, council have initiated works at late notice which will in turn provide a significant saving to the local community but will mean limited access to the beach front for the duration.

Please be aware that there will be limited access to the beach area from the first carpark after President Avenue. The carpark itself will also be utilised by council to direct heavy vehicles during this period. Council anticipates that works will not take longer than the planned period.

Council have also undertaken the task to remove building materials hazards along the beach front during this restoration. (Large Concrete blocks)

Please do not contact council with questions regarding plans and or documentation surrounding the works as none exist.

Please post your questions here for them to be answered via a central point.

Sorry Mate,

There isn't enough sand from the desal works to make the beach wider let alone making a spit.
