I've been in Perth for several months learning to kitesurf. I am starting to get up but can still only go downwind. I am being moved to Brisbane for a month by work and am wondering if I should take my gear. At the end of that month I come back to Perth and then almost immediately move back to the U.S. permanently and don't know if I'll be near water. I have a couple questions:
1) Can I find places to kitesurf in Brisbane that are suitable for my skill and reachable without a car? I'll be living near UQ.
2) If I take my gear, do I need a full on padded travel bag, or can I get away with a large duffle with clothes packed around? If a duffle will work, any suggestions for where to get a cheap one in Perth?
3) Since I don't know how long it may be before I can kitesurf again, should I sell all my gear while it is still recent (2014 stuff), or does it make sense to hold onto it? How much will it depreciate and how is it for a kite to be sitting for a year or more unused? Thanks!

Correct, Sandgate is really the only spot to kite near Brisbane city. There are lots of excellent places 1hr north and south by car... UQ to Sandgate would require 2 trains and approx 40 minutes. When you get off the train at Sandgate you'd have a 25 min walk to where most people kite which is half way up the beach.
Quite a mission, but do-able. The wind season starts to die after April in Brisbane and becomes quite erratic. Jul & Aug the prevailing winds are westerlies (offshore).
