Was considering of buying the "Best Carbon Swivel Bar" and trying not to fall for the hype and rave of all the sites out there. Basically I'm just looking for some feedback on personal experiences with this bar and is it worth getting it.
Cheers

Seadog,

2nd release of bar is a good bar except the chicken loop line is LONG for average person.

3rd release of bar is better but yet to be seen in OZ. For more reviews and discussions do a search on Bestforum....uh I mean Kite-forum.com and plow through the miriad of Pimp reviews to get the real reviews.

Overall a good bar and works. I'd wait for the 3rd Gen not too far off if you can hold on

Hurrah.

I've got a Best 45cm swivel bar and it feels good to me but I've got long arms. If your a short arse you may struggle when sheeting out. I'm guessing mine is the 2nd gen that hurrah is talkin about but a small chicken loop is used to compensate for the extra length caused by the swivel (which is small). Only word of advice I'd give is to remove the chicken loop rope and slip some heat shrink tube over it (available from electronics stores such as Dick Smith etc) so you get extra protection from rope wear (should last heaps longer). There is still plenty of clearance in the bar hole for the rope to pass through without getting stuck during turns but while you've got the rope out smooth out the edge of the bar hole using sandpaper (in a tight roll) to further limit wear as the standard hole is sharper than you ideally want. Great end result.

Hey HungLong,

Where did you get the 3rd gen Bar from and how much.
Does it still live up to your expectations?
Can you post some picies of the two releases

the bar was sent to me, along with a whole bunch of goodies, fifth line kites etc etc...

I did not have very high expectations of swivel bars to be honest, i personally like the freedom to unhook on my pulley bars and have a sucide leash take care of the rest...

If you unhook on the swivel bar you are no longer attached to the kite at all, i dont see this as being a big problem as i think if your good enough to be riding unhooked you would have thought about it already and will most likly be using a sucide leash of some sorts...

All in all, the bar rocked big time, i had loads of fun pulling multiple spins and loops in transitions to cross it all up and still ride out of it with a flick of the bar...

All the squashing of the release gizmos that others have reported in the earlyer models have been fixed up altering the webbing on them...

Other improvements are the over sized hole in the center to fit a plastic shieth over the chicken loop line...

The chicken loop line comes a little shorter these days so the smaller guys will not be so streched out...

Bar is a little thicker toward the center...

it realy is a tidy little unit

hunglong, i tell you your right about the swivel bars. i use the gaastra swivel system and you do what ever you want, cross yourself up so many times and just spin the bar clean. beats having to count how many times you have twisted up and then having to jump in the opposite direction to untwist. always get it wrong at least once and it ends up worse than it was. to get over the problem with unhooking and not havin a leash. i have taken the chicken bone off of the loop and put one on the spreader bar on the harness and have a suicide leash. that way i still have a quick relaese on the chicken loop which will stilll depower the kite when needed, you are still attatched to the kite whilst unhooked and you caqn still swivel yourself out.

i agree that the best swivel bar is good as i have been using one for the last 6 months, except when the chicken loop line breaks! it happened to me the other day lucky i was only 50m from the beach and not 500m!! does anyone know whether you can get replacement chicken loop lines from best?
