I bought a cheap waterproof camera from Kmart to try out. I mainly got the cheap one because I don't rate myself enough to buy a go pro and I don't need to see my head in high def!

I mainly kite around bay areas and play in chop and bay waves.

Question is what is the general consensus of the best place to mount for half decent footage?

Fin screws?
Lines?
Anywhere else?

I guess I can try anything but someone may have come up with the the 'best' place given they have such a wide viewing angle. Also the V in my lines is half way up so I think that may put the camera too far away?

I'm tipping not! It feels awesome when I'm kiting and it feels like I'm on fire!!!

I just know looking at my video will be like that movie shallow Hal. My wife took an iPhone video of me once and all I could think was "do I really look like that"

theres only 1 place you should put your camera. and thats on a tripod on the beach or water (bit tricky to do)
anything else is stupid and pointless

I like kookaburrahz water tripod idea, I'll make one of those soon,

my awesome girlfriend bought me a gopro a few weeks back
and instead of buying all the mounts I've just been making them,
so far I have ; line cam, hat cam, board cam, harness cam, strut cam, and I've just made stick cam, have to wait till next week to try it, but I think that will be the best.
the best I have so far is the line cam

I made a floating mount that doesn't bob up and down. :)
it works really well
will try fine tuning it through summer

The best position won't mean anything if it's not stabilized in post!

Hay Kitch...You would still need a type of anchor and how do you stop it from aiming elswhere ?

anchor is sorted and a small fin keeps it pointed in one direction

Hi Psycho,

I have seen your mounts. I'm the guy who seems to be at the beach every time there's a breath of wind. (Black land rover) the guy that came back down to the beach when you were out on your 8m kite and started to get overpowered and I came back down to land you. (You were out by yourself, and I was tossing up until you got overpowered)

I'm going to try the fin mount first, then I might like to have a peep at your home made line mount so I can try something similar.

I'll have a look if that's ok, next time I see you at the beach.

Cheers
