I've seen a few people riding with "best" kites but never had the occasion to ask anyone how they perform, I heard they were cheaper too. Any comments?

I'm only a beginner so I spose I don't have much credibility, but thanks to Best I was able to get into the sport with a brand-new 3 kite quiver for a fraction of the price charged by other companies. 2 were bought last year, a 9m Grunt and a 13.5m Yarga and this year I got an 11 Yarga. The Grunt got a lot of beginner's abuse last year and still has maintained it's new appearance and performance.

I often assist people with launching/landing at my local spots so I've been able to look, touch, feel many different brands and can say that my Best kites are toughly built and comparatively light, won't mention brand names. They also fly very well, responsive, stable, great bottom end and upwind ability. However what I love most about my gear is the service. It's fast, prompt and convenient. They stand by their quality warranty e.g. I had some fraying problems with the first carbon bar. Emailed them a photo and had a brand new bar sent to me via Fedex within days.

Ok, hope I'm not sounding like a pimp and get caned by Laurie. I ordered directly from www.bestkiteboarding.com - shipping with Fedex takes about a week, they give you a tracking number so you can see the progress of the package. I did not take advantage of the 3 for 2 deal or any of the many specials that they run. Lets see, 3 kites, 2 bars with two sets of 27m line including GST- came to just over AU$2500. I think prices are slighly up this year but not by much. The government has also abolished import duties which works out good.

Best also have a test center here in Perth if you wanna try before you buy. For more info just use the web chat on their site to talk to expert kiting shop staff (when its daytime in Florida)

G'day Geeza
As well as the test centre in Perth, the best kites can be purchsed in Australia, from the exclusive retailer here, Kitepower, phone 02 9529 6894 or contact them via their website kitepower.com.au
Kitepower stocks all the kites and spare parts, shipping on all orders over $200 is free, and the 3 for 2 deal is still going on 04 model kites.

Duty is only abolished on goods actually manufactured in the USA. You may still get hit for duty, and will most likely get hit for GST, and Bestkiteboarding.com are no longer offering free shipping. They want customers to support the local dealer it is more efficient and sevice is even faster.

There is a 30 day money back guarantee on all products.

All you guys should work out the costings and hassle and then see what one of the more competative retailers here in Oz can do.

They have the Liquid Force range and also the new Raptor kites from Force AUSTRALIA, I personally have flown them both and they are both great kites.

Why send all your hard earned $$ overseas, these guys offer great service and prices.

Good Luck!
