I was kiting today at Brighton and while doing a carve turn I overshot my kite. Needless to say my kite dropped out of the air and my lines got tangled around one wingtip and my bar *sigh*.

10 mins later and a long way downwind I had tangles sorted and the kite back up and was body dragging back to the shoreline because I'd given up on my board. I saw a girl on the shore waving both arms at me. Figuring she wanted to know if I was in trouble I waved back and the next thing I see is her stripping down to her bra and g-string and ferociously swimming out to me. Oops...did I just give the wrong signal?

So we meet halfway, I explain I'm ok and we head into shore where she landed my kite with minimal instruction and clothing. Thinking about it I should have given her a tow back in...oops again.

So a big thankyou to Simone from Brazil (who is a surf lifesaver there) for helping me out even though I was in no actual trouble and she wasn't suitably dressed for a rescue.

She's going to be getting into kiting after xmas :D

What a great story Cut! .It did remind me about my times in the Navy. I used to sail to Brazil quite often and those girls !!!!!!!!!!! they would stop at nothing to please you.
I think I have to make a move to Brighton really soon, the problem is I just started kiteboarding 2.5 month ago and St Kilda is abit safer for me but what the hell!.See you there soon.
Cheers

IMO Brighton is a safer beach than StK for learning, its more cross-on, has less people, its bigger, doesn't have a road / wall directly downwind of you... did i say it has less people, you are also in deeper water faster with more downwind before you hit the end.. Anyway, each to their own.

Cool story though

Got my board back about 30 mins later when it washed up on the marina seawall thankfully I really need to get my name and number on it though in case I don't find it next time.

Cezary I agree with Manicskier about Brighton. Even though it's deep water straight away the lack of crowds and long beach is a real bonus for learning. It is choppier than St Kilda though.
