For anyone entering next weekend's Board Meeting Charity Comp at Kawana, the judging criteria will mostly be as follows:

The comp is a teams event.

2 members per team. 4 competitors in each 'heat'. Each wave will be scored out of 20.

Scores will be the best 3 scores per competitor and 2 teams with highest aggregate team scores will proceed to the next round.

While this event will be held in the waves adjacent to the surf comp, it has been decided that a mixture of freestyle and wave-riding skills will be judged.

Points will be awarded for wave selection, longest rides, surfing maneuvers, freestyle tricks, boosting, board-offs and other gay tricks. Nudity will be penalised
but fancy costumes will receive bonus points.

Tricks must be performed while on a wave and will only be scored if landed on the same wave. Priority rules will apply and drop-ins will incur a fine of 1 carton of beer per infringement.

Basically it will be judges perception of what is kitesurfing skills and what the crowd wants to see.

Choice of equipment (twintip, surfboard, foil, flysurfer, other) and the manner in which it is used (unhooked, hooked, strapped, other) will have no influence on the judges score.

So basically it is a 'have some fun in the waves' event with all proceeds going to charity.

Hopefully the above is clear enough (4 glasses of goon in my gut)

Thanks for the up date Davo.

The judging criteria sounds like its going to make the event a whole lot of fun. Its going to be great to see a diverse range of wave riding styles.

Keep in mind this event is all about having fun and rasing money for disabled kids on the Sunshine Coast.

Your full entry fee goes towards helping these kids that have a disability and are falling through the cracks of the system as well as strugling finaicialy

It is a great oportuntity for kiters to get some possitive reconigtion within the community by doing something helpfull as well as having a great event.

Get your teams in kite Brothers and Sisters and help raise a few bucks for these kids that are doing it tough in more ways than just being disabled.

Remember it's for charity and tax deductable.
