My board disappeared from the beach at Rosebud yesterday. Not happy.
It was hardly as though I had left it there for long. I went out on a 13m, the wind picked up a bit so decided it was time to come in to land and rig up a smaller kite. Left the board on the beach as I went in to land, roll up the kite and yak to the only other kiter there, the board must have been there all of 15-20 minutes. In that time it has disappeared!
It was a Slingshot Doyle 142, 2003 model if anyone sees it crop up. I know I am not the first person to loose stuff off the beach but I am still pissed off.
Anyway, now I am about to go and buy a new board. Thinking of either an Underground FLX 128 or Airush Switch. I am 80kg, kiting for a bit more than a year and go mostly in the choppy conditions on the bay. Any comments from anyone?
One unhappy kiter

Hey Danny - I was that "other kiter" chatting to you yesterday. What a major pisser - I will think twice now before I leave my boards on the beach.
Of course it could have been a good samaritan who knew nothing about kiting and just handed it into the local police. Did you check with them?
FWIW - Mate has recently got a North Jaime Pro and reckons its the ducks.

Did you check with the guys in the carpark.
They looked like they were watching the gear in my car pritty close too.
If you need a new board for a good price let me know!

Huge bummer!!!!
I was on the beach when you were telling the guys about your board and couldn't get back quick enough to shift my car. When I drove of I noticed the group of suss looking guys at the carpark. I think they were eyeing off the stuff in mine and steves cars. Don't think I'll park there again. Cant see the car when you're out kiting.
Good luck with getting the board back...if not enjoy your new board!

I did not notice the suss blokes in the carpark. at the time I was thinking well of our fellow beach goers and had assumed that a gust had picked it up and blown it into the bushes. after hunting around for about 2 hours my thoughts turned a bit more towards the nasty side of our fellow visitors to the beach and I was much more suspicious.
i will have second thoughts about rigging up at that spot next time.
I did contact the police in Rosebud as you mentioned Tom - no joy. I will probably lodge a lost item report for official purposes, not likely to help much but if it becomes a frequent occurance you never know. i also asked the 2 main shops in town to be on the lookout if someone wants to sell it second hand.
anyway, life is not going to be much fun without a board so I bought a new North Jaime pro and now looking forward to giving it a spin. hopefully tomorrow - if a melbourne forecast is to be believed
thanks and regards to all
