What is the story with the sea gulls in fishing boats hammering in along all the kites and sails from Mullaloo 2 the point , there is a port side channel maker there and those dick heads should not be on the beach side of it!!
I see it all the time of late boats coming into the kite zone .... what are they thinking !!!
This is unsafe and any boat skipper that does this at those speeds should lose there coxswain licence........someone is going to be cleaned up and at this rate soon !!!
There are some tossers in this world !!!
My question is how to stop them

yeah I have seen a boatfull of bogans pull up at the point and sit there and ruin the paradise setting for everyone...

suppose we chip in for a military style rocket launcher and take the bogans off the water once and for all

I hear the Australian army is selling current military equipment nice and cheap......

best thing to do is take the craft identity number and report it to the harbour police......i am a kiter and i have a boat...
the law says you may operate your boat and land it on any beach anywhere as long as you maintain the 8 knots speed rule when close to shore and when passing another craft, dive boat,swimmers...etc etc
50 metres off shore the 8 knot rule applies....so report the tossers that operate their boats dangerously!

hey Flux
the port side channel marker is only a guide and not a defining boundary line , the muppets in the boat have as much of a right to be there as you. the rules of the water state that he must slow down to 4 knots when within 30 meters of you on your kiteboard, but YOU must also slow to 4knots when within 30 meters of him.

If he turns up again try this... Trail a line behind you and cut in front of him, his propellor will pick up the line and he will come to a stop. you now have a floating kicker/ slider/ jumping obstacle...... enjoy

Hi Guys,

We endure this problem daily and more annoyingly from the jet skis. Just take their rego number and phone the water police and request they notify the DPI.

They can do nothing unless you have a rego number and a boat/ski description. We complained about a ski who was towing a sea biscuit through the kiters a week ago and I got a call from DPI who rang the guy and sorted them out. They were there agin yesterday but operating within guidelines.

The yellow bouys between Mullas and Pinnas indicate the water ski zone where jet skis and such are allowed to legally tow skiers and biscuits etc. All other areas are restricted to 8 knots within 200m of the beach. There is a pdf downloadable document from DPI which displayes all of the restricted and zoned areas around Pinnas.

There is currently no registered "Kiteboarding Zone" at present so we have no official rights any more than any other water user.

To get really technical and black and white, kitesurfers and windsurfers are categorized as "sailing vessels" and as such must conform to DPI regulations.

Quote from DPI document;

Prevention of Collisions

"Wind surfers and kitesurfers are classed as sailing vessels and also have obligations under the international Rules for Prevention of Collision at Sea to operate at a safe speed for the prevailing conditions and circumstances and take appropriate action to avoid collisions."

Safety equipment

"Wind surfers and Kitesurfers operating more than 400m from shore must be equipped with PFD Type 1 and an inshore distress flare kit"

I hope this clarifys things a bit and brings some understanding on both sides.

Cheers and good winds,

Does'nt look like 4knots to me , or even 8 for that matter, and as for the 30 metre rule well anyone that kites around here knows that they don\t follow that guideline either.
An while I'm on the subject how are those twat people fishing with surf casters right where wind/kite surfers are................
I say the rope is a good idea and a knife for the fishing line, I even had a word to one couple and asked if they intended on catching a kite they just laughed liek it wasn\t a issue , i asked they if they thougth it was a good place to fish ?
Anyway if he hooks me with a line I'll land my kite right on his head

I got hooked there last week by a fisherman. Unfortunately for him he didn't have 300lb line on and lost all his tackle .
