Hey all.

I have been using the 11 meter Rev2 for a couple of months now, and love almost everything about it, especially its capability wave riding. But my one quarrel is that I can’t seem to boost nearly as well as I could on my Switchblade 2, Crossbow 2, or Ozone Sport that I have owned before.

I never can really get much ‘floaty’ hangtime. If I do jump high, I always travel really far downwind and land super fast. On the other kites, I can jump higher and float down with much much less horizontal speed. This gives me the opportunity to do a few spins in the air and stuff.

Is this just a trade off I have to deal with my using a more wave dedicated kite, or is there a slightly different technique I need to adopt with the Rev?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Keep the edge a little longer / harder, and move the kite a bit more aggressively.
I had to extend my front lines on my revs with at least 10cm to get the bottom end, the grunt, and the float.
Try and see if it helps.

Boost it like a C-kite and it will go bigger than said kites.

You need speed, good edge and to send that baby back in time.

The rev gets its boost from speed, not from pulling in the bar.

And learn to use waves as kickers. A good kicker makes the difference between a big air and a BIG air.

You're kidding?!

I went from a bow to a rev2... rev2 kicks the crap outof my bow.

Unlike a bow you must take the rev2 in a larger arc... at least that feels correct to me.

Waves + boosting = superawesomemegaair... just make sure you don't faceplant into the wave behind it ... it happens a lot to me.

Exactly what I had to do on both the 9M and 7M-just came out of the factory with the wrong front (or back-depending upon your view of it) line lengths.

Not sure about the 'boosting' bit-I'm pretty much always unstrapped and 'boosts' tend to be sans board.....

Cool, thanks. So just tie a bit of string on to the front lines? Can you buy specially designed ones from a kite shop?

So by larger arc, you mean sending the kite from say 10 to 1? I guess I am trying the same technique I use with the other kites of sending the kite from 10 to 12.....

Send it faster also. I'll try it hopefully soon.

Cheers,
Tom

Just make up the extensions yourself-VERY simple to do-grab some dyneema or the like and make em' up-just make sure your knots are even length on each extension.

As he ^^^^ said, simple.
As with jumping. It is up to your edge and timing. With the rev, as a faster kite, you can send it even from 10 (as long as you hold your edge until it reaches 12, and then pop), if (after extending the front lines) you pull the bar in....if the wind is right, you may wonder "will I ever come down?"....

I hope you get some wind soon over there....

I changed the trim on my Rev2 11 today and it was seriously way more awesome. I had been thinking at the Rev 1 was way more awesome, but with this change I'm now only thinking it's slightly more awesome.

Thanks for the tip!
