Why is it so that my X-bow kite keeps inverting every now and again i ride with the back lines on the knots closest to tne kite
i don't touch the depower strap and the kite is fully pumped up . once the thing inverts the bridles get all tangled up and i end up swimming in any advice on this problem would be great

Mate are you a learner?

I used to have this problem with my turbo diesel.

it generally occurred when I boosted out of the water then depowered whilst in the air, this allows the kite to shoot out of the window then drop out of the sky.

Always stay powered up whilst in the air.

pumping up the leading edge hard helps a little also.

nar not a leaner i have just change from a fith line to a cross bow
i happens weather the bar is pull in or extended out past the over ride just going along edgeing hard and she'll invert though mabey tie anther knot closer to the kite to pull the back in more to change the angle of kite was wonder if that could be the problem not enough angle on the kite. only happens on hell windy days but

You shouldnt have to swim in. When u relaunch an inverted kite it will usually untangle itself. Ive had mine bowtie and flip about 5 times after getting hit by waves several times, lines were all twisted but was fine and flew normal when it was back in the air just all twisted. I cant see why your bridle is getting tangled unless you were disconnecting and reconnecting your lines.

happens on hell windy days because you are probably sheeting out too far - even though you prob dont notice it.

you've gone past the wind range of your kite if it keeps inverting.

all bow type kites want to do it when its hell windy.
this hype about bows in 30+ knots is only gunna happen if you just cruise and do basic transitions.

if you go hard in overly strong winds at some point you are going to want to slow down by sheeting out and washing off power. thats when its gunna happen

I have had the same problem happen about 3 times to me. I have an 07 switchblade, all three times its happened when its been really windy and ive swooped the kite through the middle of the power zone. It inverts right in the most powerful spot in the wind window. It only happens when im not moving though, its happened when iv been in the water when i have lost my board. I was a bit surprised when it first happened, it seems the kite can't handle the force or something???

rilay,
yeah i know exactly what u mean. i've been wondering how it happens myself. its like the kite gets forced to go flatter (more pull on front lines) and then it just decides to not be a kite anymore but a flapping piece of material, then it reforms into the kite shape again.

i reckon it'll take a few more generations for the developers to find a way for bow shaped kites to hold their shape better under load.

it is avoidable, but its a bit of a bummer to have to change your riding style to ensure you dont invert your kite. huh.

thanks for the imput guys i'm glad it's just not me (sort of any way better if it didn't happen at all) has any one tried tying knots closer up the back lines to change the angle of the kite. gives it more power i would have though. stop the front coming down too much. the bridles never seem to sort the selfs out kite just go's up gets more twisted comes back down.
