where's top hat when you need him??

Oh, what sort of kite was that?

Take any top rider, put him on any kite, he wins the comp... Matter of fact, a lot of sponsored riders end up riding for different brands through years, and good riders remain good riders, regardless of what they fly.. That's usually why they win...
Are there really people to still think it's the kite that wins the competition????

Plus... Not too sure where I got lost, but aren't all the companies nowadays selling SLE/bow kites any way???

Would it be an unacceptable stir of the pot to ask if there's a bow kite yet that will sit with the bar on its back stopper and retain enough power to ride? None I have ever tried will. Their marketing hype claims they will, but the stoppers always punch out when I try. I haven't tried many though.

Takoon nova2, its back stopper is very large and i use it to ride against. You can push through it when required, it takes some pushing though and nancys need not apply.

hey? a 2007 nova2 stopper is massive? what the hell are you doing with it that it doesn't work? i've had my 12m out in 20-25knots and ridden on the stopper without a drama. Maybe its the driver not the vehicle thats the problem?

Possibly. It was only a short spin at the end of the day when the wind was dropping out too, probably not the best test to pass judgement on. I will take that under advisement.

Eclipse Thruster does. They actually have a free floating cleat on the chicken loop line that you can lock into place wherever you want. With an extra amount of knock the cleat will release. The chicken loop line is also a bit shorter than most so no 100% depower, and riding on the knot is possible.

Bows & SLE's may have some great characteristics, as do 5 line c-kites and hybrids. But this argument will all come to an end on the 15th July when Naish release their SIGMA kite range, if you think the bow revolution was a big progression, this is massive! All kites will look like dinosaurs once the SIGMA's hit the market.

Can't wait, 5 days to go!

hahaaha, now thats funny. Naish have always been an overhyped marketing machine first, gear second company. And once again they prove it here.

So they take a normal kite, tear it into pieces, put it back together with a lopsided sewing machine and put a kink in it? what a piece of ****.

I,ve got a little older since I used to enjoy this argument. I'm with the "do what you like crew now"

But thanks kitepower for "persisting" with us the C kiters. We know when we're not welcome.

Please don't read anything negative into my use of the word persist.
I still happily fix any kite for anyone, that includes 20 year old noisy stunt kites, and I go out of my way to fix and repair any C kite that comes my way. Some brands have really abandoned their old C kite customers, but we can fix anything provided it is is till worth it for the owner.
However its the industry that is moving away from C's, not me. Just because I prefer to fly bows does not say anything negative abouts C's or any other style or design of kite, and I still fly anythin g that interests me, including the occasional C.
Every customer that walks through the door of either Kitepower store is treated just like we the team would like to be treated - first class! Makes zero difference what type or brand of kite if being flown by the customer.

geez there are some excitable people in here, not enough good wind can give people the forum crazy's!

there is plenty of room for everyones opinion without getting nasty, some like the "C's" some like the "bow style". I agree with Steve that it is a big thing that the bow style kites did well at this last contest after what has seemed like a C kite dominated tour in the past. this may have been a little bit of a stir but we all should use this forum as more of an information tool so kiters can enjoy reading about the pros and cons of different equipment.

As for Bruno's patent, i am involved in an industry where something similar has happened and the patent holder is going after companies that are using their idea. I think Bruno has every right to enforce this patent as it is an innovative concept that has done a lot of good for kiteboarding. From what i have been told "Bruno's" liscensing amount and agreement is very fair and they are easy to work with.

I cant wait to see this new kite from Naish, i love new and exciting products and when the kiting industry fails to produce new stuff it will become very boring in here!

You've written in a bunch of companies that are using as patent and that you should support them? Slingshot isn't among those listed but they produce a bow kite?
Every kite company now has a one pump system of some sort following in the slingshot wake, so if these companies you've listed aren't paying slingshot for copying there patented one pump system why should we be interested if a kite has a patent or not.
Seems every one copies everyone. Which colour do you like best :-)

Have you seen the info on the new Naish kites, all the Sigma kites have a bridled front from what I can see in the info I have, and they look like they are a version of the bow/hybrid/SLE/High depower kites.
I don't think anyone could call them C kites?

Are you planning to fly them of the 08 Torch?

The SIGMA range are definately not C-kites, nor are they Bow kites. They use both control methods SHIFT and SLE on different models. The only way to clasify the New SIMGA kites from Naish is by calling them SIGMA kites. It is the SIGMA shape that makes the kite fly the way it does, not the control method!

All of you that are interested in the SIGMA series from Naish, Official release date is July 15th (Sunday). I suggest subscribing to Naish E-News if you want to get it first. It will most likely come early Monday morning for us (southern hemisphere issues). The Sigma series is a real revolution in kiting. It's funny how poeple are judging the SIGMA kites without even seeing or flying them, so typical of this forum, people should maybe try not to judge kites until they fly it!

but what is the go with all the marketing statements declaring the term, "Traditional C kite Feel".

Ride what feels good, in the simplest possible configuration.

And I agree with Tony, fly what you like the feel of and what works best for you.

PS - JB, Until I see anything to the contrary, and I have a lot of info on the new Naish kites, they are a high depower/SLE style kite, with an extenended wind range compared to a C kite and that can be rigged with a Naish Shift style 5th line, depending on rider preference.
