Hi all,

I am heading to South America in December and was wondering if anyone has travelled over there to Kite. I will be spending time in Peru and Brazil and was wondering if anyone has any advise. I have friends in Rio and the beaches look great on google maps. Cheers

Was in Peru at Easter last year - Mancora has an awesome left point break, but when the wind was on the beach was great for kiting.
There's an Aussie guy there who owns the surf/kite shop - kind of helpful...

No advice here, however I spent 7 months in Sth America back in 2000.....travelled from top to bottom, and spent about a month in Peru.
I didnt kite back then, but zig zagged all the way down the coast into Chile, and recall a hell of a lot of coastline, some of it good, some bad, some areas very remote, and some nice uncrowded beaches near towns (a bit of surf here and there). Anyway thinking back, plenty of spots that would be great to kite if the wind was on. Be worth researching further!

Enjoy your trip

peru is not so good in december. during the southern hemisphere winter the coast of peru (pescasmayo/mancora and other points) goes off with waves that go for up to 1 km and side/side off winds 16/22k.

If you want wind for sure Jericoara in brazil is the place to be... it is windy even in off season; sort of like an around the clock WA (warm and sunny).

Hey loose lips sink ships.

Selfishness is the go on seabreeze. Dont you think it is hypocritical to aid and abet the reaching of saturation point at any spot wether it be in the third or first world. One more kiter at a spot is one closer to saturation point.
