Are there any products on the market that will reduce wear on bridle inserts? Heard elsewear that some people melt candle wax on them?!

What do you guys mean by inserts?

I was flying (I should say holding on for dear life) my 7m flow today in Bunbury... and the bridle line that runs through the pully on the leading edge has somehow shaved off the edge of the pulley roller (plastic) and also totally removed the sheath on the outside of the bridle - I will have to replace this line and the pulley... first time this has happened.

Glad though they seem easy enough to remove and potentially replace...

A bridle insert only makes up a small portion of the actual bridle - say 30cm on my 07 waroo. It just means you dont have to replace the whole bridle itself and instead only replace the 30cm of bridle insert in which the bridle runs along... make sense?!

Anyone know of any products to reduce bridle wear?

I guess some line would only cost 5 bucks but i can't find a sail shop

East Victorians: Local sail shop around brighton/stkilda???????

dont use line from sailing, they have cores and outer sleaves, you wont be able to notice the wear until its too late. you'd want a solid woven line, can get it at bunnings, perhaps use a slightly thicker than standard line, i fly waroos too and used racing bride for mine and didnt notice the wear and the core snapped and was only held together by the sleave. next im using proper woven rope and dipping it in some wax.

pulleys suck, the day they let you down it will be the most epic conditions and you'll be 5km from a car with no spares in it.[}:)] Keep a spare pulley and bridle bit in your harness, could save you a lot of pain.
I don't know what your setup is like, but to stop bridle wear make sure the pulley is getting pulled 'true', ie: line to a ring (or loop), ring to pulley. Keeps the pulley square to the bridle, don't use pigtails straight onto pulleys, they pull the pulley on an angle to the bridle and chew it up.

Check out the the NEW original series kites.
They depower heaps and the bridle doesnt wear out.
They also take no effort to self land in any strength of wind.
