Does anyone know whether anyone makes or sells single kite lines as I have broken one and don't need or want to pay $200 for a new 4 line set. I am on the Sunshine Coast at the moment.

Mick, I am on the coast and have a few old lines lying around - what length are you looking for?

Step into my cavegarage, it is magical mystery tour of kites, boards and parts for such. I tried inventory it all once but there was just too much. I'm sure there are several single strings lying about in there, all sorts of lengths.

Seriously, a decent kitemaker should be able to make one up out of some spectra for cheap, any length you want.

I have some TD lines at home on the Sunshine Coast - PM me and I'll send you my number.

instead of getting just one you will probably want two lines. one to replace the broken one and another to replace the same line on the other side. so if its a leader line replace both of them or whatever..because the remaining unbroken one will be stretched and then new line will be a different length and as a result the kite will steer to the direction of the unbroken line.

i hope this makes sense. i think it does..

Send an addressed post pak to me and I will send you some line, put a not in the pack to let me know what you are looking for (line length).
I have sh1tloads of old and even fairly new linesets that have been damaged in one way or another, but are still very useable by Mcgyver types.

Also no need to pay $200+, check out the 360kg Ozone linesets here, 4 line 25M set is $125, for example.

Why can't you just tie a knot to join the two pieces together? I have broken a line too 'today' and was just going to tie it back together and shorten the other line to match. Is this possible or is there a danger to doing this?

The line is seriously weakened where the knot is and will probably break there. If the break is near the end, shorten all of your lines by that amount by cutting them and re-sheathing them - there are a few topics on this subject (re-sheathing).
