Had a friend who went kiting there last year and the prices were actualy more expensive then here(if thats possible) HE did have a good time kiting and recommended it highly. Just don't expect a deal on gear.

try www.kiteboardingasia.com/

They provide lessons gear etc etc.
Their claim to fame is that their gear is the cheapest in the world and after getting their price list, yep they are real cheap.
However the clause seems to be that they wont mail anywhere saying that if you want to buy their gear you got to go there.

seems like they have a real good set up and good knowledge of kiting in Asia.

In Bankok march 2002, went to see the guys that export airush (Starboard) and they sold me a 11.5 lift at a significant discount. Got the address and phone number from the airush kite catalogue. Called them when i was in Bankok and got directions. Few years ago but worth a call.

The man to see here in Thailand is 'Bret' from kiteboardingasia.com ... they run schools in Koh Samui (oct~mar) ~ are currently in Hua Hin where it is also great for leanring & general kiting (maybe coming back to Samui in June)

I went to Koh Samui and bought an Airush Lift 18 when I was there. I got it at a discount, but not what I would consider a significant one.
I didn't have any intentions of buying it, but after about 5 light wind days, and only a Vegas 14 in my quiver, I couldn't wait any longer.
I didn't even get the kite out of the bag, because the weather came in big time, so I put up the 14.
The results were a big spanking and an unleashed kite hurtling towards the bamboo piers and anchored boats at Big Buddha Beach. My wife got it on video here http://homepage.mac.com/boxburg/kitesurfing/iMovieTheater109.html

Great little Vid Boxburg ! loved the music ...

If anyone wants to know the prices of any of the Airush kites 05 here in Samui (or Hua Hin for that matter) then let me know - I just re-found the latest pricelist in my pick-up...
