i went about a month ago. i couldnt get up then they got me to do a water start and i got it straight away. i only got around the corner once or twice but was only there for an hour... it was cold thou - 14 degrees!!! it was kinda scary also coz i didnt know anyone and my sister was goin to go shoppin so i was there with my family and a bit emabaressed....

i have fights all the time with my parents over finally gettin lessons- they dont wanna drive all the way! and when they do - NO WIND hopefully they'll forget about our fight 2day and i can finally kitesurf 2morrow BEFORE TESTS! (i have become a bit of a nerd).......

and also, will kitesurfers be annoyed wen im starting out at me?
- they always seemed annoyed wen im in "their way" wen im walkin my dogs

Good on u te89... If you can get around at the cable park - just keep on practicing there, and you will be able to grasp how to balance and edge, and it will help you a lot with kiting (as it did with me). Don't worry about your family being there and not knowing anyone... I don't know anyone there and my Mum stays there when I go! At the Carbrook on I just asked them to slow it down for you around some of the corners, and they did until I could handle it ... I just talk to the guys and ask them tips on things and they all help me, which is great they’re all so helpful...

I thought u just lived near wello, so just ask to have the lesson there... tell them it's the only place you can have a lesson because of transport, and they will be fine about it. It's about $150 for a 2-hour lesson... but its worth it trust me! Just make sure before you head out, look at the winds! Then you won't waste your time going down there ... www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/qld.asp Look at the Banana Bank and Inner Beacon graphs for Wello and it will give you a fairly accurate account of the winds there- don't just go by the BOM's prediction...

No way, the guys at wello are so nice and helpful - well that's what I found... It's a lot better safety wise, and so you can handle it yourself to have at least 2 lessons before you head out, and never go out alone, because this time of year, the gusts can be a shocker... Just ask the locals if it would be okay to kite on that day, and if they see you in trouble or anything just give you a hand. It's vital that you know your kite and its safety system, otherwise, do not go out until you do...

lol... I hope your dogs aren’t the ones who have attacked and chased some of the wello kiters - maybe that’s y, or just that the dog might tangle their lines...

Have a good one when you get out, and I might see you out there sometime...

If you are into cable - then come to Cairns where we have a new park just 5 mins from the kiting beach.
Anyone coming to kiteweek will get to go there as we have a free session for all the riders.

It's about 5 mins from the kite beach - Yorkey's Knob.
It's next to Skyrail and Tjabukai Aboriginal Cultural park.
Look for the signs on the next roundabout north of the Yorkey's turnoff.

Lynita doesn't start lessons back until about september, and I'm not sure about BrisKites, but I think it is similar with their lessons. BrisKites number is (07) 3283 1818, just ask for lessons and if they are doing them now or not.

Another guy who does lesson at Brighton and other places is 'Kusu', Kurt Savage, just private message him, and he will reply with details and everything. Really great guy, and extremely helpful.

I know PureAqua on the GC do lessons and specify in Cabrinha kites but I am pretty sure the guy there, Dario I think, said he doesn't do lessons over winter because it is unsafe. But their site is http://www.pureaqua.com.au if you want to contact them.

As Bondo and I also mentioned in another reply to you in another post that Nigel Shaw does lesons at Straddy also and u can contact me for his mob no. or Goodtime at the Gap (great service, equipment and shop) cuz of privacy because it's his mobile number

All the best with lessons and getting ur equip. Just ask around and talk to people and find the best kite that suits you. Even ask for a demo if you a certain of a brand of kite, just to ensure it feels right, but I am not sure about conditions with demo's and cost etc.

Dario and Brett are back from Melbourne and have recommenced giving lessons on the Gold Coast at a very safe spot near Loders Creek in the broadwater.

They have a jetski and take beginners out to a large sandbar in the centre of the broadwater. Its a very safe place to learn in most wind directions. They are both IKO certified and are very careful instructors. Most of the crew here have been taught by them.

They can be contacted through their web site pureaqua.com.au

Not enough wind at Wello to bother going down, so it's a day at the Cable Park tomorrow for me ... Nothing like trying to help my board skills and stacking it at full speed lol... All in good fun tho...

It's the Cable Ski Park at Carbrook also if you want a good time... $35 for the day from 12-5pm...

"Wakeboard hire prices - $10 per hour - $25 4 hours. Photo ID required" Yeah but I just use my kiting board, because I need to get the feel of that and not the wakeboard. The guys wakeboarding there, said I could switch boards with them because I would find it easier to use, but I've got the feel of it all...My kiting board edges really well also at least... They had the maddest LF wakeboards also- Their boards make me want 2 wake instead lol... Sweet one..
