Would be great if there was but most times it's a rumor that starts up every year. Must be the lack of wind...........!

As a stand alone business are cable parks very profitable? Has anyone been involved in the business side of one?

The cost of land is the big factor that doesnt make it stack up.
The old spearwood park was approx 7ha in size.
You wouldnt be able to find any land in the Perth region for less than $150p/m2.
That alone requires an outlay of $10,500,000.

Reportedly, the old Spearwood operator still has all the cable ski gear in sea containers but cant find a suitable site.

anyone know if it was ever looked at for champion lakes out near armadale? would seem suitable if you could do a cost and time share arrangement with the rowing stuff...
i know they did consider a few other leisure functions like rafting etc for it
been tempted to do a guerilla session out there when driving past on a hammering easterly...looked like butter, but wasn't sure if it'd be trespassing [}:)]

What sort of zoning would you need? is there anything stopping from some one setting up on there property and charging people to use?

Also has anyonee spoken to the owners of Bonneys ski lake. Surely if they got enough interest they would consider some kind of setup?

I'm building 3 wake winches now. I'll flog off 2 off twoi and keep one for myself. All the parts arrived the other day. Just need to find the time to knock up the frames and assemble.

Until Perth does get a cable, this is the best I can do.

Champion lakes rowing course is a great idea (except health related water quality issues are plaguing it and preventing it from being used - it's a big drainage sump).

Low lying swampy land ie former agricultural land in Baldivis would be ideal.
These kind of uses complement industrial estates (ie new one in pinjarra, although it's a hike).

Ive always wondered if the Alcoa red mud lakes in kwinana would be a goer.

Question: how far would people travel for a cable wake park?

Cable parks can be inexpensive to set up if you know what your doing. They can be set up with two towers (13M power poles can be used), one at each end, and a good motor (you can find rebuilt ones that are very strong and ideal).

And then the cable, which is a bit more pricey, concrete anchore points etc.

You can set these ones up in a 100M strip dam, some people already have a few acres and a machine....

I can't see that costing more then $5000. It'd be the insurance and liability that would cost more i think. Of coarse you could just build one and not open it to public but just use it with friends....

If perth wants a cable park, maybe start small like that and see if it all clicks then go bigger?
