Amazing, a Crossbow with no pulleys on the bar, "virtually no bar pressure", and a below the bar flag out safety. Looks like they might have gotten rid of a few pulleys at the kite too.

Not quite "innovations". The flagging system seems exactly the same setup as that used on the Slingshot Rev and Takoon Furia, except Cabrinha don't use the cleat for depowering.

Great to see the bars improved and the - "push away bar for total depower" hype has changed now to real depower with the kite flaggin onto its back like a 5th line.

I wouldnt say its exactly the same as the rev, rev flags to one line only, this "looks" to flag both centre lines so the kite sits on it's back, far better system to prevent lines wrapping around wingtips imho. Besides think rrd hypertype had this type of below the bar flag system before the revs came out.

I still would like to see flagging rings to the outside steering lines. Don't like the idea of self landing in really windy conditions without option to put leash to 1 line....other stuff looks good.

just like the current set up with an extra line going right through - pitty it will take away the simplicity which at the moment is the Cab's best feature.

IMO if you know what your doing then the current set up is completely adequete. Problem is there are too many gumbys out there (see bondi rescue) who don't know how to handle the cabs therefore need an extra way to completely depower the kite. I guess Cabrinha just has to keep the masses happy.

looking at the new bar it is a big improvement......
being able to flag the kite through the bar and on the chicken loop is not a bad thing.
No bridles or pulleys on the rear lines will hopefully reduce the chance of the tips getting snagged ...
good improvements

Looks like possibly a good improvement over the previous cabs' 1 line flaggin system.... I wonder if it will be easy to relaunch after putting it onto it's back,
from the pics it looks like a good position to invert from, they must have moved the front line tension forward through the pulleys.

I wonder how that extra flagging option would work after a few loops - i wouldn't trust my life with it -

just ride cabs punched out!

Far out, who cares?

Each to their own, but personnaly if you havn't tried one of the newer hybrids(or even a 2008 c-kite if you want pure performance) then you are missing out,

Enjoy

A bit harsh. My original 2005 Xbow is still going even after I just spent all this summer smashing it into the water (yes I'm a learner & yes it is pretty well knackered now)

Cabrinha has improved its durability in its materials drastically in the past 3 years.......
If your canopy is only lasting 6 months, stop crashing them into walls.

from craphina i have owned a 10m nitro, 12m CO2, 16.5m contra, 7,9, and 12m CB1, and an 8m SB2.

every one of them came apart at the stitching, except for the nitro. the crossbows were the worst.
into a wall is the only place i would ever fly a cabrinha again

The historical durability issues with the cabs seem well known. My CB2 lasted 6 months, not good enough for a $2k piece of equipment - but the warranty back up was good. Its a shame with all the good design work they put so much effort into, that it gets let down in the manufacturing. Be interesting to see if the improvements claimed in the current season kites can be confirmed over time.

CO2 - 10m & 14 m
CB1 - 7,9,12 & 16m
CB2 - 7,9 and 12 m
SB2 - 6m
SB3 - 8,10,12, 14 m

Never had one issue with the canopies.
Never had one issue with the bars.

I reckon they are the best made kites I have seen.

I have always got some of the first kites to arrive in Australia thanks to the efforts of Reg at WSP.

Stamp you either must be one unlucky mother or an extremely rotund kiter (Fat B@stard).

Back in your box, Bi-atch

The good thing about kiting like a Grandpa, is you get to hang out with Grandma's.

MMmmm , there is nothing like a teacake and blue rinse.

I had a xbow2 when i was learning, and it got the living crap pounded out of it.
It went through massive waves trashings, getting nosedived onto beach (by accident, or when i was getting drilled), scraped along shells, sticks and rocks during countless selflaunching/landing, and it broke about a month ago after 2seasons of abuse, and way more than 100 times taken out. I think it did pretty good.
Now im onto sb3, and no problems yet (touching lots and lots of wood).

All references to xbow 09 on the internet have now been removed.

Possibly a Cabrinha R&D/marketing feedback exercise.

Well Mr Cabrinha & co if you're reading please be just a little bit more generous with the size of the '09 kite bags. Trying to get my 07 and 08 xbow back into the bag on the beach is a ball ache I've given up on.
