Do you think cam battens make a huge difference in the way the kite flys.
Some people say they do nothing and others say they make the kite fly smoother through the air.
Thinking of getting a Vegas but not too sure about the cam battens.
Heard that north are getting rid of them for the 07 release of kites is this true and if so why?

I've got them in the Machine 17.5, and I must say that I love it. (pimping).. It turns so easily, and I've had no quality issues.touch wood.
But realistically any kite that is 06 is going to perform ace and to say the battens are the reason why the kite performs would be stupid, unless I have tried the same kite with the battens and without.
Yes I can say the Machine turns better than comparitive models without the battens, but is that because of the battens? How could one tell?
Not even all knowing wise Kochie would know.

In regards to the Matrix and Vegas, It appears the battens help smooth out the power delivery in normally power spiking actions such as Kiteloops.
I think it's something to do with helping the canopy back into a laminar shape after stalling. Which happens alot more than you realise.
