I demoed one of these and was pretty inpressed with everything except the pads and straps....

I know they're supposed to be the bees knees, but I ride with the LF pads and straps and would want to put them on. The shop owner reckons that the strap system is unique and that it would be tough to put anything else on.

Anyone out there changed the straps??

Cheers for any replies

Apparently you can. There are more than one set of holes. I've just ordered a pair of LF's for my Thorn so I can let you know when they arrive, but was told by someone on kiteforum it does work.

From what I was told the downside is that it forces your stance a little wider and you get a little more spray in your face, but I haven't tested it yet so I can't comment on that.

Thanks for the reply...I'd love to hear how you go with the LF pads.

Yes you can but you cant fit the Naish straps to other boards though. I would definately try it with the naish pads first though.

Last years boards - No
This years boards - Yes
Last years boards had a unique hole pattern and were closer together than all other board.
You will have trouble fitting LF Luxury pads and straps to last years boards.

This should put your mind at rest. My pads arrived and although they were a bitch to put on (an issue with the fact that they were new and stiff, not compatibility) the holes do line up at a couple of different angles so you can put them on.

Here are some shots

P.s. send me a PM if you want to find out the trick to putting them on, only worked out halfway through the first pad and that made it a lot quicker.

G'day Saffer

Yeah you have them screwed on the board, but they don't look right.
Lots of duck and not much you can do about it eh?
Also, and this is what looks worse, the straps are too high in the arch, might suit some people, but won't suit most.
Those LF straps should fit a lot flatter, then they grip your foot better. LF need to make the flap face the other way though, they come undone in big crashes, because the water get forced under the flap.

What is the "secret" you discovered in how to fit them easier?

Actually, you can set them up a number of ways. I originally set it up like that but I now have them more square. There were a couple of line up options so depending how it goes on the water I may shift the angle again. The originals grav-d's were too square for me. This is how the LF straps look now which is probably more what you wanted.

This is the best way I found to do the straps. Screw them in like this and then twist them around after they are screwed in. Given the fact that you own a shop, you've probably worked this out a long time ago, I do straps once every couple of years.
