Anyone been kiting on Lake Burley Griffin? I'm workin there at the moment and I'm thinking it would make for some sick photos to do a few runs past parliment house. That is if I don't get wrapped around the bridge!

Get out of there quickly, it's already burned once.

I've tried it - worst experience of kiting I have ever had. Canberra is notorious for gusty winds, even on a good day. Forget the lake and go to the coast.

Wait for summer and the Easterly's (if they decide to show up this year)... otherwise you are asking for trouble. Also the water in the central basin is crap as all the chop bounces off the walls. If you really want to kite in a westerly, East basin is the "best".
