I was happily trying to (uncessfully) land back rolls for the majority of the day, when the last attempt failed miserably and I ended up about 30 meters down wind from my board.

Straight away the wind suddenly died down hectically and I was left unable to body drag upwind in search of my board (which I couldn't see anyway). To top it off my kite dropped in the water trailing edge down, and me being the inexperienced noob that I am, could not manage to flip it over and hence relaunch. Although one guy did come notice my struggle and started to search for my board, whilst I wrestled with my kite making my way to the sand.

I eventually managed to reach the shore, with one helpfull kiter preventing my switchblade II from getting mangled on the breakwall rocks.

Once on dry land, I noticed the whole team of kiters had been informed of my unfortunate incident and a couple of dudes were in search of my board with the wind that was left. This lasted for about 20 minutes untill the wind was practically dead, with no luck in finding my board.

I was quite upset as you can all imagine, and once packed up drove up and down the carparks of Botany in hope that it had been washed up (to no avail).

Got home not so long ago and checked my phone with a missed call from Tony saying that he had the same idea as me to check in the carparks 10 minutes before me. I was STOKED to hear that he had found my board and it was all in good shape, and I was not half a thousand dollars in the hole :)

So just want to say thanks to everyone who assited in my search. I hope that I can help in the same way should someone else find themselves in a similar situation.

Tom

Gotta love the guys at brighton, those I've spoken with are all champs!

I had a similar thing happen to me on Tuesday, cept got my hand caught by one of my lines with a looping kite... scarey as hell, lost my board too

Kept having guys come up to me and asking if I'm alright. Peter practically taught me howto self rescue, which I found considerably more difficult on a 14m TD2 than a 7m when I learnt, he also saved my board for me . Top bloke

The way I figure it you've gotta save at LEAST one person for every time you are saved... plus one more hehe. Gotta keep the kitesurfing karma going for the future noobs

Cheers guys!

I've got a Naish Haze 144cm for sale.

Found on the beach yesterday near Brighton le Sands. Looks like a nice board for learning back rolls.

Make me an offer before the previous owner claims it back.

But yeah I agree, I've never come across anyone at that beach who isn't friendly & helpful.
