Hi All,
has anybody ridden at Chittaway Point on the central coast NSW. Can it be ridden in NE and SE (or other conditions) . I am a noob and based on my current performances am looking for a good spot to ride on flat water in the spring. I have ridden (well dragged and been thrown around really) at picnic point on the other side during winter on a SW and NW.

Also can anybody is what conditions best suit canton beach is it Westerly and SW(and yes I realise the best conditions are when it is windy (lol))?

cheers in advance.

poolboy,
Chittaway bay can be kited in both se and ne winds, anything with east in it really. the only thing is that there are not many good launch/ land areas, so pick one with a safety area downwind in case you need it.

I have never kited canton but have heard that anything from S-W works there.

****taway is shallow but choppy and muddy, launch spot can be sketchy cause of trees. Its full of bogans thieves and wankers so lock ya car when you head out.

Canton's prob you go. best in a S to SW

I have kited there a few times in NE. i was a beginner when i did and it was great for learning as it is all so shallow even i can stand up! (and i am not very tall) And no crowds while learning.
To launch i always had someone experienced with me who could walk out with me and launch me well off the shore.

BUT it is very very very very muddy and you stink after and there is lots of weed. Be prepared to go straight to a beach and wash both you and all your gear really well. if your lucky the nice lady with the house on the grassy area has a hose which she will offer you if she is around but dont count on her being there.

Now i can go upwind consistently i would rather go to places that are less muddy and i wouldn't go there by myself as there are normally no other kiters there to help you if you get into trouble or need help launching.
