I'm in the process of getting new video action camera. Ideally I would like to attach camera to the kite a have waterproof remote with me. Reseach tell me Drift Ghost has no wateproof remote and range only 10m, Otherwise good Sj400wifi has no remote to be found (or only via phone) Sony Action cam remote is poor device with limited range. Please feel free to share experiences with you setup and go well beyond GoPro3 with remote please Thanks !

I was in a similar situation to your earlier this year and after all the research, ended up going for a Gopro with remote.

Was the inly camera I found with a good enough remote and a mount that I could fix to both lines and struts.

Hopefully things have changed and you get some other recommendations here.

... remote is a nice idea but at the end of the day, it also chews the battery taking away recording time. Turning on the wifi on in the camera basically used about half the battery time so didn't really achieve what I was attempting any way. Like Phoney said, it just easier to record the whole lot and edit later plus you don't run the risk of accidently turning the camera off/stby and miss recording a good bit. I had to get the extra bacpak battery to make my GoPro 3 record time back to normal, when using the remote of course.

Mind you, the other side of the coin, some might want to change modes ie video, photo etc so you have to have a remote then. My Gopro remote worked fine when I put my gopro on my kite using 27m bar/lines btw.
