Kia ora Kiwi kiters, i'm off to the south island in late October or early November, what winds can I expect ?

Staying at Waimairi beach, I hear the estuary is a no go zone, so beachies it is.

how many hours less (tide wise) do you get in the pond now after the earthquake with it deep enough? (sea level change)

You should give Wellington a try everyone keeps saying its one of the windiest places?

Mate Wellington region is one of the best places to kite there is,usually always windy from one direction or another ,I had over 22 hours riding last week in anything from 12-35 knots ,yes it can get gusty but that just makes for better riders ,from now to jan is our windy season so wind is just about guaranteed .
Tons of wide open beach within 45 min drive and in a southerly blast the wave action at lyall is awesome.

We're getting good conditions here in Christchurch right now. Spring N & NW winds work well at all beaches. The prevailing NE sea breeze comes up more often than not , & like Adrian said, the Estuary is working really well!
We are hosting the NZ Kiteboarding Nationals in early February 2014, & expect it to be epic as is our flat water kite spot!

Estuary is deeper on one side and shallower on the other after the quake, also the liquefaction that came up has made the base hard. water is clear and no mud. Sailing time is about the same but we used to ride just the mud without the water, can't do that with the hard base now...

Are you in Chch then are you? Any chance of some demos of the Axis boards? :D
