i've gone from best's and cab's straps to ozone's C4 cleat. Works a treat. No issues. simple and clean design.

Assuming you're using the right diameter rope for the cleat and the cleat isn't worn, it should work fine. I've used clam cleats on boats, sailboards and kites and provided the cleat was matched to the application, and the line to the cleat, they are a simple and effective way to hold any sort of adjustable trim system.

Give Steve at Kitepower a call. He'll know the most about retrofitting the current cleat and trim line to your Ozone bar. The current setup works a treat - accurate, easy and minimal wear.

I have a 2008 instinct edge and have never had a problem with the cleat. The depower rope is beal and this type of rope locks into cleats really well.Have noticed that the new ozone bars dont use this type of rope anymore, dont know why, I thought it was great. As djdojo pointed out perhaps the rope you have is too small for the cleat or the cleat is worn. Cleats are much easier to use than straps.

Maybe its worn but it shouldnt be as I never realy used it,
I have 3 bars and 2 of them have gone this way.
I only use the 3rd set for special occasions but I'd image it'll go the same. Its 2010 bar.

I have 3 custom set up bars.
All have cleats and I wouldn't go any other way. Been using these for 5 years.
They last for at least 2-3 seasons if you clean them and not run sandy line through them all the time. I don't need any knot adjustments at a kite as I can do it all at the bar with the cleat and the right length adjustment.
I also only use Qpower pro and would never use any standard lines.

The cleat I use is http://www.clamcleat.com/cleats/cleat_details.asp?theid2=91.
The rope I use is www.marlowropes.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72:excel-racing&catid=51:dinghy-windsurfing&Itemid=171

Hi Guttermouth,

I have been selling/using Ozone kites and bars since 2007/08 season. I've never had one slip and I've never been asked to replace a slipping Ozone line or cleat to the best of my memory.

The depower lines on the 08 bars used to wear out and the cleat system was an integral part of it so it all got changed together, but the cleat itself never wore out.

Not sure how on Earth you go through two bars in less than two years??? Must be something you're doing or the sand at your local or somethhing. It's highly unusual.

Try dunking your bar/lines before you rig up. Let the depower rope get soaked. Reset it hard into the cleat before launch - this requires tension towards the kite. I've never had a single slip with my 08 Ozone system.

I have the exact opposite problem, on my ss rev 2 the depower rope gets stuck in the clam cleat and is impossible to adjust while riding. I have to set my kite down to fine tune it. Not always a good option as I kite alone most often in the winter and I only want to self land in gusty conditions once or twice only per day. Anybody have a solution to this???
Thanks

Thats because your cleat is not a clamcleat and its located in a very awkward spot, below the bar.
Try letting the bar out when you are trying to adjust. You have to pull directly down in line with the rope first, on a cleat, before it will release.

Where in Oz are you? Either the cleat is worn of the rope has been replaced with something that was not designed for use in a cleat (yep not all rope works well in a cleat).
You may also be using a technique that is making the cleat wear or hard to adjust.
