Just an update on how we went with the Pinnaroo Clean up.
Firstly a big shout out to John and Jackie who were the only people who bothered to show up besides myself and our school manager Ed. Thanks so much for putting in a great effort.
As lessons never eventuated due to lack of wind, we continued to clean up the beach, car park, surrounding bushland and dunes area from 11.30am until nearly 4.00pm.
We managed to collect about 15 garbage bags full of glass, cans, rubbish and all sorts of crap from all over the place. I would say we managed to clean up around half a square kilometre.
Memorable finds:
5 Bongs and one broken meth pipe
3 tubes of KY Jelly, 2 porno mags and 2 Amyl nitrate bottles.
A brand new shower head
2 stolen purses and a stolen handbag (one still containing a camera)
A large suitcase full of clothes hangers
4 or 5 pair of undies, various shirts, 2 pairs of socks
Countless beer bottles, cans and drink containers
And a homeless guys bed of two plastic bread trays and a pillow.
And this was just the stuff I found!
I would suggest that Pinnaroo hasn't been that clean in many, many years, so thanks again to Ed, Jackie and John for turning up and pitching in.
Funny how John and Jackie weren't even born here, but still came down to help out whereas all the Aussies, born and bred, couldn't be bothered.
You guys are "OZ AS...." and have my deepest respect! Mahalo!
