Goddam....talk about brown trousers material.....

I was out late this afternoon after work and had something hit my board from underneath so hard that it actually launched the board off the water When I looked back, all I could see was a *very* large, dark shape just under the surface....needless to say I vacated the scene rather precipitously

I've been checked out, up close and personal, a few times now by various marine creatures, but that's the first time I've actually hit/been hit by one.

ray for sure.

shark would have immediately **** itself and pissed off underwater faster than you could turn around. rays bake themselves on the surface fairly frequently.

i remember a story i heard from a windsurfer once, he was screaming along offshore somewhere and hit a turtle with his fin (saw it coming). broke the fin clean off, turtle died fairly quickly with a 30cm carbon fin halfway through its body/shell and he had to de-rig on the water and swim in. not much fun.

you killed a dugong you bastard!

mind you if you towed it back to shore, and took the back fillets off with a sharp knife, you would find on the barbee that they taste a lot like a cross between dolphin and marlin!
