Hi Everyone,
just letting you know the final details for the event up here in Townsville in September. Prize money has now been decided upon. The winner of the Pro Mens freestyle will take home $1500 and the winner of the Pro Womens freestyle will take home $750. There are some awesome prizes for other divisions. If you want to attend, then you are encouraged to pre-register as we are only accepting a limited number of entries (a maximum of 50 entries for the Pro Mens).

Details for the event are as follows:

The James Cook University Kiteboarding Club Inc. presents the:

COCONET NORTH QUEENSLAND KITEBOARDING CLASSIC

September 23rd-26th

Freestyle event - Pallarenda Beach, Townsville (Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th). Registration between 9am-11am Friday, event begins 1pm.

Freestyle format (may change depending upon wind conditions): 10 person, 20 minute heats; 6 person, 20 minute semi-finals; 6 person, 30 minute final. Single elimination only. Judging from shore and boats. One kicker and one slider incorporated into the competition zone.

Kicker and slider best trick event - Alva Beach, Ayr (Monday 26th)

Kicker and slider best trick format: Free-ride format, riders can ride between 10am - 5pm. 3-4 kickers and 2 sliders will be set up in the flat water playground that is Alva Beach. The best trick thrown off one of these structures over the course of the day wins.

Competitors are encouraged to pre-register for this event as registration numbers are limited. Only 50 registrations will be accepted for the Pro Men’s division. Registration fees are as follows:

Pro divisions - $70 (pre-register)
Grom, masters and amateurs divisions - $50 (pre-register)
Pro divisions - $90 (register on first day of competition)
Grom, masters and amateurs divisions - $70 (register on first day of competition)

Your registration fee includes an all you can eat breakfast on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, entry to all official parties and a limited number of free drinks, entry to the competitor's tent, as well as a competitor's t-shirt and competitor's pack.

Cash and prizes: $10,000 in cash and prizes.

Just a reminder to all of those of you that plan on attending this event to book your accomodation ASAP. Accomodation available close to the event site is filling up fast! Also, remember that to take advantage of the pre-registration discounted entry fees your completed registration form and entry fee must be received by September 16th.
