Cheers BudgeeSmuggler

I've booked 14 days from the 16/08. Am told there is no need for my 7.5m Bandit so will take the trusty 11m Rev with me.

Bring on the wind!

mate, you are guaranteed to have a fantastic trip. Cocos is so relaxing and stress free. The people are all really nice, the temperature is perfect (in and out of the water), beautiful scenery, Cocos has it all. The best thing is you never stress out over the wind it just seems to constantly blow. I have been there three times and absolutly love the place.

Thanks burley and hally for the responses. I'm stoked to be booked in and 3 weeks from today will be landing there. 2 weeks of kiting and relaxation - can't beat it.

I'm taking my new ATC3K POV cam and will post some pics & vids after the trip.

LOCATION

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands are located in the middle of the Indian Ocean some 2750km north-west of Perth, and 900km west south-west of Christmas Island, its closest neighbour. Cocos lies approximately 12? south and 96.5? east, locating the islands in the humid tropical zone.

CLIMATE

Cocos experiences two main seasons which tend to overlap: the trade wind season from April / May to September / October and the calmer doldrum season from November through to April. Expect higher rainfall during March through to July. January through to August, may also generate the occasional low pressure system (usually between February and April). However these systems do not normally interfere with holiday plans. Rainfall usually visits this sandy atoll in the evenings, bringing glorious sunny days! The average annual rainfall is 2000mm! Temperatures are fairly consistent no matter what the season, remaining around a comfortable 29?C with a minimum evening temperature rarely dropping below 20?C.

I'll be there sept 1st. Gotta lose some more weight before I go, just to make sure I take full advantage of all wind speeds! A strict diet of beer should do it

Beer and Hotdogs is the best diet in the history of humanity.

I was gonna be going, had my sights set, all ready to go, talking with Jen @ zephyr's but then when I got my tax return back and for some wack reason it was so measly I cried...I cried me a river...

Any one had issues checking their kit in at the airport?

Spoke to national jet today and their saying that I've got to drop my board off that the Cargo Centre on Valantine Road. Any one else ever had to do that or am I just a special case.

That's standard procedure, take it over a week or 2 before you go and they'll put it on the next available plane with space.

There is always more stuff going over than coming back so space is a premium. Your stuff will be in a side office when you land on the Cocos and you won't have to worry about excess luggage on the day you fly.

If you have excess you'll get charged serverely. Have fun, it's a good spot.
