ok wanted to see who has had the most consecutive days of bad luck whilst kiting.....i shall start the ball rolling with a mere 2 consecutive days!
Wednesday i was pumping my 12m north vegas up when the bladder burst before i could even launch.....and i left my other kite at home
Thursday i was out on my other kite, 9m Best Nemesis when my bloody handle broke and i snapped a line! couldn't believe it and have never heard of a handle breaking.

i'm sure someone can beat two days.......

I had one bad day;

2008; someone stole my kite bag which I used to hide my car keys in it (yes I am an Idiot)

So I couldn't get into my car and I had a kite, board, bar, harness, vest and no bag, no money, no one to call with no mobile!

I walked to a kite surfer's car and I explained the situation to some kite surfer's wife or GF and I asked her if it is possible that I leave my gear with her and call them later to get it back and she said NO!

I found a place and I hide my gear, I was going to use the train and the train line was closed that day, I got in a bus to city then the train back home ($200 find for not having ticket) and my house mate was not home after two hours he got back home, I've got in, got the spare keys, catch a cab to my car and by the time I got back some one stole all of my kite surfing equipment.

Brand new Helix 2008.

While not consecutive days, they were consecutive sessions.

earlier this season I dived my kite to get going for the first run of the day, just as i was being pulled out of the water the bar end busted off. caught off guard by this i sank and snapped the fin off my surf board. the kite collapsed and the lines became so tangled that was the end of that session.

a few days later after repairing the bar ( some epoxy and a couple of rivets) i was walking out over the lagoon to deeper water to launch, when the shackle holding the mickey mouse ears to the trim strap came off, leaving me connected to the kite by only the rear two lines. in 25 knots the kite was going ape sh!t and no way to depower or control it, times like this i wish i had a 5th line! fortunately a lull came a long and i some how managed to get the kite down, packed it up and went back to the car for my spare bar and to hopefully get some kiting in. Managed to re rig and get back out, first wave out i stuff my bottom turn and drop the kite, which then promptly shreds its self from LE to TE. (i think the earlier incident really stressed the kite some how) leaving me with a 1km swim from the reef back to the beach.

it was dark by the time i got back to the car.... only to find that some prick had stolen my original bar and lines.

two weeks later i broke my surf board clean in 1/2, a few weeks after that the loaner board i was using flew out of the back of my truck never to be seen again!

Yep the 5th line is good for a few other things too. Advanced people know what its all about.
I actually like waveslaves saying,
"riding a kite without a flagging leash is like using a power tool with no off switch"

Hope this summer improves for you.

Holy Shiiiart! You fellas need to buy some lotto tix.

Some of these stories are shockers! Idiot - WTF was the girly thinking your were being dodgy about - giving her a kite - not taking one FFS!? Was she part Irish terrier or sumpin??

After some of these situations a good stress free sesh must feel like GOLD.

Hey Markass - they eat their kids for breaky around these parts.

@Idiot- that's a terrible story man. I have to ask though, why didn't you just catch a cab home with all your stuff with you (maybe you couldn't call but could have used someone else's phone) or take it all with you on the train?

Cuz my wallet was in my car (boot), no money and I wasn't even sure if my house mate will come home for the night.
I was pretty sure that the cab driver won't let me sleep in his car and as I don't have money in my wetsuit he will give me to police for not paying his fee!

One night is prison or under arrest and no turning back if you know what I mean
