I know I am going to sh1t-canned - given previous comments as to 6inch slop, (and I agree it is too late for this year), but what about having it where there are some waves?

Eg., Wedge.

PS. This post is in no way meant to be critical of:

- anyone who uses a surfboard in small conditions;
- the organisers of the comp - I appreciate the work you are doing;
- owners of kite schools, or their friends;
- persons who have recently injured their toe;
- forum users who think forums are not places to provide a forum for alternative thought
- four-legged animals who get shorn regularly and run scared in New Zealand
- New Zealanders

(To make it clear, the smiley faces above mean I am kidding and no offence should be taken).

i know straps dont get as many points as strapless but what about bindings?
if some one wants to lend me a surfboard (with straps [im going to be flogged]) please say so
o yer, and what about a bow so i can "surf" the wave. yer i guess thats a bit to much to ask for but i would rather some wind

In case I am sensing some offence to my post on your part as an organiser, I repeat:

"This post is in no way meant to be critical of:

- ...the organisers of the comp - I appreciate the work you are doing"

I will try and be even more tactful when posting in the future.

Trevor1 come down to the comp, have a bash, socialize, drink a few beers, drink far to much Red Bull, have generally a pretty social fun 2 days at the beach. I get a guaranteed leave pass from my family to attend every year ,so it's all good. If God is willing the guaranteed 1ft slop many pick up into 2ft slop and we will all be stocked. We would all love 6ft grinding barrels, but alas 1ft slop is it.

No dramas.
No problem with having it at Contacio. Can understand the logistics:

- sponsors
- transport
- Red Bull staff

But imagine if your leave pass extended to a day at Wedge - you may even get one for overnight

dont look a gift horse in the mouth.
why didnt you join a committee of some sort and actually do something instead of criticising the efforts put in by generally the same people every time just so you can have a fun day. what do they get out of it? a good 15+ hours of organisation for 10 min riding. these organisers have serious jobs and families to juggle between for your pleasure time. i think you should be thanking them for organising what i hope will be another great day on the beach with the WAKSA members.

good suggestion, probably wrong time to raise it

shame there are some thin skinned individuals who cant hold a civilised debate but degenerate the process into personal abuse

i'm appreciative of the effort put in for the contest where ever it is
and happy to help out

lol kc...Trevor already withdrew his constructive ideas. Don't piss on him, he was being constructive...(no further comment. I've just deleted 3 nasty deconstructionalist comments re: begging for bows, bindings etc etc).

I think that JK's invite for him to organise a bigger wave event is enough.

yer, sorry... depends how you read it though. ( i didnt read much of the sorry posts before either)
i read it as "thanks for organising a wave comp but next year how about you do it somewhere there are waves"
doesnt sound to much like "yes count me in"

Hi Dan
Everybody is allowed to enter , even the Dutchie tourists . Only thing is they all have to be a member of WAKSA .(This is requirement from council as all competitors have to have public liability insurance)

Yes please to the shade , will give you a call about them tomorrow .

Thanks Nick , thats great that you can do that for us .

We still need a few people to do a bbq from about 12pm-3pm on the beach please . Also a few people that can help out during the day with things like changing the flags for heats and maybe help Nick out with getting the heats sorted out .

If a lot of people do a little bit , we can all have a good day .

Did a trip up to Wedge today to see if we could hold a comp up there some time (we aim to please) and I have to say that I wouldn't want to run or even compete in a comp up there .
There is no way I could sit on the beach just looking at others riding in conditions like that .
