I'll be in it, johnny.

I will be happy to do a spell on the BBQ on the day when not competing. i am sure a few other competitors will pitch in too.

Let me know if you need people to turn up early to set up/buy snaggers etc

Thanks alot Rich, great to have you in the comp and on the BBQ for a bit of IRON CHEIFING. The Commitee are meeting at Mike Bergmans place Wednesday night to loook at draw, wind and wave out look and sort out final details for weekend. We will post all detail thursday morning about set up times , start times and draw for Saturday and numbers of competors, etc. We need as many hands on set up and pull down of comp and during the day, so if you can help at some stage it will just ensure we have a GREAT COMP, and it will be MOST appreciated. Wind and some waves action is looking good for Sat and Sunday so keep fingures crossed.

Ok entries are now closed .

Everybody has to be a WAKSA member to compete.

We will have a list on the beach of WAKSA members so need to bring proof but we can't take memberships on the day .
If you go online by tonight it will process in time .

We are also MOVING the venue to South Brighton .

We realise that this makes it difficult to get to , as you have to walk up the beach further but the banks at Contatio's are a mess .

We will be posting details as we go over the next 2 days .
We will decide by noon on Friday if the comp goes ahead or gets rescheduled .

We will only run the comp if we believe we are going to get fair to good conditions . As we need a fair bit of wind to generate some rideable faces we will be fairly fussy .
2-3 hours of marginal wind each day will only frustrate everybody and will be no fun . The first prioritry of this comp is still for everybody to have fun .

Mike

Note that Dan Roberts can't make it as per his post on page 3.

Also I am on there twice. I didn't realise Dan had put me down on page 2 of the thread.

Hopefully not too much inconvenience.

More detail on comp additional to Mikes Bergs Post about deciding to run comp midday friday if reasonable wind Sat & Sunday. . If we go ahead on Saturday set up 10am with as many who can help please come on down. Regos from 11am with possible start time 11.30 am. Please come with $10 cash at Rego as no change available. Draw will be confirmed at 11.30 or there abouts depending on wind. A full briefing on scoring , rider conduct etc to follow. All riders will get a second chance if they get knocked out first round. First round heats/ 4 riders, 1st & 2nd go through. 3 & 4th to go to elimination round. Elimination round 4 riders, 1st only goes through. ( We will explain on day, it's easy ) Two junior and ladies heats.

Judging - Best 2 waves scored with highest score in heat winning. Best impression to judges. Go hard lads and lasses.

All riders in water or inside must give way to riders on wave and any blocking will be lose points. Blocked rider can raise arm to call interferance. All riders to watch their own heats and no heat will be held up waiting for riders. All heats 12 minutes with 3 minute turn around, so all riders must be ready to go. These are pretty quick heats so don't muck about. At end of heat riders to go down wind out of area.

As per last year, Judges decision final, no detail of any heat will be given only a first and second placeing. No riders to talk to judges about there heats.

Please watch forum for morwe deatils, and lets pray for GREAT wind and swell. Johnnno

THE COMP IS BEING POSTPONED

The forecast is not good enough to hold a worthwhile comp .

We are trying to reschedule it for the 10-11 Feb at this point .

Sorry to dissapoint and inconvenience everybody but we feel it is better to postpone than hold a comp in lousy conditions that will only frustrate everybody .

We will keep you informed as we figure out what we are doing .

Thanks
Mike

Good call, holding a wave comp in bad conditions never gets the best result and no one has fun .

I had a great session at Lano last night over head high
Swell was dropping though

I will ask a silly question since it is Friday , but are all boards allowed twin tips, mutants, even something I made yesterday looks like a mini mal and a twin tip, directionals, surfboards etc ?

I noticed a thread somewhere about it .

Thanks,

Big Dasa

Oh, well...I guess I'll have to do a downwinder.

Hey Big Dasa, I think even riding a cafeteria tray is cool or body surfing with kite....its all about impressions and having fun I thunk.

I don't know what the National Wave Comp stuff is all about...politics maybe.........boring.
