Is Coogee beach south of fremantle any good to take someone who is just getting up on the board. Looking to get some space and get away from the crowds

Woodies seems to crowded, Melville has trees, safety bay to far...

Like most sites it has its good & bad.
Its very safe for beginners ie wide beach, seabreeze is slightly onshore, not a lot of public esp when wind is up. Plus there are lots of dunes & bush to drag thru before hitting the road
Biggest downer is wind quality - can be very flukey while you're on the beach. If its got more S than W then its not good - gustier and less onshore but it all improves quickly when it goes more W than S.
Also OK once you are offshore a bit.
I would look elsewhere (esp if very new) unless the wind is at least SW or more W'ly.
A school operates there so be prepared to give some space to other learners.

Now that is a good idea, wonder why you guys don't hold the lessons down there.

i go to the alcoa and ktown beaches its good for learning but i windsurf ive been in dangerous situations tryn to learn like in heavy populated beaches
my local is the industrial area not sure about the kites but once u are out past the loading jetties the wind is good.
i genrally have the beech to myself there is a few guys truckies that go down there to drink(ALCOHOLICS) and they will phoNe u in as missing in action if ur not a police officer and just watch out for the horses as they dispise kites and sails
i aso find that the general windirection on thses beeches to be down shore which means u need the right equiptment to "WATERSTART other than that all the other beaches that are safe are genrally populated
the other thing is u get the looser fisherman complaining that "arent u scared of sharks and **** i say no ull have more chace of killing yourself in your car o the way down to the beech than in the sound
the wind quality is non existant until u are out past the industrial jetties in the case of windsurfn i dont harnes of untill i get out past the jetties
good part about it is if u run into noob trouble ull end up at the asi jetty where security wil come out in boat (and rescue u )... and warn u u are in private waters......
point is if u go further south and learn in the industrial area u can go out far as u want and if u run into trouble just drift into private boat building zone and ull be hppily escorted back to land i ue it a s a saftey net

you will need a tea towel to wrap around your head incase security are watching videos
