Hey Sonya Rachel it is costing us about $1800 Aust for 10 nights accomm, daily boat transfers, airfares from NZ & insurance. Food is extra? Check out southpacifickiteboarding.Com for details.

I don't believe that you can go wrong with either the Cook or Cocos Islands, both have + & -. For us it's just that much cheaper being on the east coast and going to NZ, you will probably find it's cheap per for you to go to the Cocos. You should go for it either way

Off to Cook islands (Aitutaki) at the end of July to the first week in August!

I am going by my lonesome, so if anyone is going and want to meet up let me know!

...I am counting down the days!

cheers!

PS
[I looked at Cocos as well, both looked awesome. However the deciding point were:
- it was $1.5k cheaper from Melbourne, the quotes are in NZ dollars;
- the wind for Cocos is 15-20knots and in Aitutaki it's 15-30knots, so this means I might get to take out my smaller kite more often and
- A bigger lake to explore

The downside:
- Cocos islands seems to have more party feel after the daily kiting sessions.

On another side note: PNG and FNQ look awesome - can't wait to do these when I have 3 years under my belt to really enjoy the experience

who are your arranging your trip thru Ohyeah? I'm going over with a few mates on the 15th July, counting down the days myself.

I know its only early but they have been having some good wind the last week or so,nothing much less than 20 knots and 3 or 4 days in a row there of 25-30 knots and 28 degrees.

Happy days

Dean,

4 days of 25-30knots would put a smile on my dial!

Got the package through Auckland Kitesurf Centre. Southpacific kiteboarding looked awesome as well, it boiled down to South pacific had a lay over in Rarotonga and Auckland went straight to Aitutaki with a sunset kite on arrival and with Auckland they had a simple 4 day extension, making it 14 days of kiting :)

If it wasn't for those two things, I would have gone with South pacific as they slightly cheaper. I might try South Pacific next time. I am hoping that the kite boardings from both companies can catch up over a beer or so.

..counting down the days.....
