Thanks to all the sponsors; Slingshot, Cabrinha, North, NPX.
And a massive thanks to Toby for organising the whole thing!
Also Thanks to Cam Prest, Keahi, Charl, Abel, Capt'n morgan, Paul from kitelife, Shannon Stent, James for making the vid, and all the other crew from Australia and abroad that I haven't mentioned that lent a hand and made it all happen!
See you all next year.

IMO really good ,well cut and interesting vid.
I Guess with a stack of footage, deft hands and some imagination you really can make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

"Sow's ear"?
In what sense? the event being boring to you watching it live?
If so that's just how it often is, unless you are there when people are having a solid crack and the stuff is setup nice (maybe only half an hour or so each day) it generally would be pretty boring.
I know ones thing for sure I would way rather watch people hitting sliders and kickers than watch a day of people sending their and spinning to win in any other kite in a competition. I guess it really depends a lot on you background and what other sports you enjoy that will probably influence what you would like to see most and whether or not you would find this event entertaining. I'm into board sports like skating and surfing so this sort of event appeals to me more than anything else happening in this sport at this current point in time.

Also there wasn't a stack of footage actually.
Each rider had 2 runs through the course while the heli was there due to helicopters being inherently expensive to hire. Most of the heli footage was to shakey due to not having expensive gyro stabilizers etc so it was unusable.
All the chase footage that James filmed from the ski with Abel driving got wiped because his camera got to hot in its waterproof casing.
With several days of to much wind or tides and some sliders breaking I would say there was very little raw footage really.
James did an awesome job piecing together what he had and making it look really professional.

silk purse from a sow's ear? -5h!t comment. if u did go an watch and weren't enjoying it u didn't even need to walk thru a door to leave. thanks to all the organisers and build crew, i was spectating and thoruoghly enjoyed every second, was wondering how many pro's an how many amatuers participated? exscuse my lack of knowledge on the celebs, i could only pick a couple from the riders, even tho they were wearing dif shirts....? will b keen to get involved next year.

Well I don't know what classifies an AM but me Cam, Keahi, Abel, Charl all gave it a fair shot and 2 of us placed in the top 4, none of us are "pro" (living off kiteboarding) kiteboarders by any means. I thought everyone was pretty much up their with the best of them at some point through the event.
Definitely sing out and come have a ride next year if you want, everyone is welcome and there are more than enough people that will help you learn how to hit a rail if you have never done it before.

I didn't see one shot of Keahi riding in any of the Core clips, although I know he was there. Can the young tacker jib rails?

just give it a crack anyway... the landings from the rails arent bad, at all as long as you let go of ya bar when you stack, can just start by hitting it slow and 90% of the time you fall off down wind anyway

Smarter than what I thought SIR you quessed it I and many others watching were bored s**t less.
Kind of like a poor man's wake boarding event without the boats.
This is gunna get the heckles up and rekindle the "old school" or not debate BUT here goes.
Five or so minutes of Hadlow on the day before doing massive kite loops (in toe warmers) in nuking winds was better than a whole day of your silly obslacle course.
We were wondering at the time how long it would take for someone to smash thier head on one of the metal legs on the back side of the slider where many were ending up.
The low end of the slider definately needed to be moved a couple of metres north.
The cool bootie boys scoff at Hadlow and others and do thier little harry potter wand thing most of them knowing they could never make it look so spectacular.

DRE was good.

Jim what do you expect really?
5 minutes of watching the same loop over and over again may appeal to you, but not to everyone. As I said people with different backgrounds in various sports are going to be entertained by different things. If you have no idea about rails or board sports you would probably be pretty bored by the whole thing. I for one find watching the same kiteloop over and over again ridiculously boring, the odd one I don't mind and yes I can do them myself.
Also as I said if your not there at the right time which may only be an hour or so window a day you will probably be really bored as well.

Actually the sliders were in the correct direction nearly the whole event. If people are falling off and nearly hitting their heads on the steel frame thats their own fault, half the joy of hitting a slider is the risk involved. If it was up to me the sliders would have been narrower and had no saftey sides, but we needed to cater to everyone and the sponsors.

What it really comes down to though is this wasn't an event for the spectators... no one publicized it as being so. So I don't understand why you need to come on here and neg out about how boring it was for you to watch when no one was meant to be doing anything for your entertainment... Bit like going to a pub when the band isn't playing then telling everyone they sounded like sh!t.
It was an event by the riders for the riders.
So, neck up,
Alex.

Arh yeah there he is. Im blind as a bat.

How fast was Cam P hitting the rails. Epic

Not saying that i could. To old for this stuff, but poeple should try hitting the kicker and do corked spins like in snowboarding. Not sure how possible it is with passing the bar though?

Rowdy I love this new serious side to you over the last month or so. You raise some valid points for sure

yeah but im guessing standing with ur bell end in your hand with all your boyfriends at connections also greatly appeal to you jim... but no one cares...

if you dont like the event why the hell would you bother coming down more than once? no one forced you.

and i think if you go do your research most of us "cool bootie boys" have actually been giving hadlow a fair bit of credit for his recent change in direction and the way he has been riding of late. kite twirls are impressive the first time you see it but is repetitive.

and yer lechie cam was hitting the sliders fast as hell and hitting them with crazy style, he was definitely holding his own against all the pros, i voted him one up on hadlow myself as he was probably the only one next to dre that had real consistency in his hits.

Greg norman also had some killer hits when he was on but he was a bit of a hit and miss rider, either all in or all out haha.

like rowdy said this is a riders event by riders for riders to bring a bunch of friends from around the world together that share the same view of where kiteboarding should go, to session it up together and push each other to go hard, when you got a big crew like that around it puts pressure on to try go way beyond your normal level to one up ya mates which is what makes this event so fun. I would almost say getting the coverage and pleasing the sponsors comes second to that point.

like i said to gruezi man, if you gona fly over definitely give it a go, there are rails that are easy and ones that are technical, anyone of any level can join in, there were lots of riders every year that have never hit any obstacles before but there is so much support and advice floatin around that you will learn in no time and see what its all really about

Excellent event, on Sunday, comp day it was perfect. My 3 year old was loving that kicker, using it as a slider. She loved the butter water on the landings, and the water was deep enough to stand.....
Young kids love kickers and sliders....
