Further to Jonathans posting about Cottesloe beach access

Tuedays night meeting saw John G making a brief submission which in general was recieved very positively. Typical of the comments was that of Cllr Arthur Furlong who said how much he enjoyed watching the Kiters and were he younger [he must be over 70], he would join them. He also said his grandkids wanted to get into it. Otehr comments received were in the same vein.

Do not for a moment believe that all people feel so positively and their are plenty of residents of South Cottesloe who would be happy to see us banned, but guess what they dont have any AMMO. And yes only you guys bcan give it ot them so RESPECT all other beach users and they wont get their hands on any.

But we are far from home and dry yet.
The council passed a resolution that a committee would be formed to look at issues of kiting and report back to council. The commitee will have 4 members.

1. John Geyer WAKSA president [who as we all know as a former Australian wresting Champ, can be very persuasive!]

2. Cllr Tony Sheppard [ a burly man with a well trimmed beards who walks his dogs on South Cott beach]I have described him in some detail because if you should see anyone of this description on the beach, be EXTREMELY NICE to him. In fact if his dogs should piss on your kite say "not to worry dog piss actually makes them fly faster, in fact I piss on it all the time" and smile deferentially . Under no circumstances do not attempt to dive bomb his dogs or loft them on your lines.

3. A representative of Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club.
Now whatever your persoanl views on tight speedos on the beach, be EXTREMELY NICE to anyone wearing them [especially if he has a little red and yellow hat]as he is likely to be the aforementioned member. Give full right of way to their surfboat on any wave they want to kite and do not attempt to jump over it or their surfskis.

4. A representative of Cottesloe Coast Care
[best recognised by a penchant for lurking around the sand dunes this time of year while wearing green anoraks and carrying potted natives for planting]. Do not slide down the dunes in your eagerness to get in the water, USE THE STEPS. They have gone to a lot of trouble to establish what vegetation there is and the beach would be a damn sight less pretty if they hadn't, so RESPECT it.

The basic message is enjoy your kiting for now but if you wish to continue to do so have EXTREME RESPECT for all other beach users. We do not own the beach and access is a privilege not a right.

Cottesloe councils rules will provide a working model for other councils and will have repercussions [positive or negative] for the other shires on the Metro coast and probably the rest of Australia. So PLEASE do not be the idiot that killed our sport.

again i applord you all for standing up for what you believe in. I still stand by my post on this subject in previous thread started by Jkeys. If it's too lite to stay up wind in the correct spot, dont **** you're selves in the ass and drop down wind. Could be the difference between you keeping you're local spot and loosing it.
