Realy !, well explain to me why surfing has not been band yet then ?
When I started kiting way back in the early days, we didnt have any of this ****. As the sport has grown in popularity the problems have started and are on the increase. I've witnessed morons rigging up on the beach in the most stupid of places with their mates and having no clue what their about to do. When I take my wife and kids down the beach while I'm out for a session or not, I spend some time checking out the riders and whats going on. I'm always fearfull for my wife & kids safety as there are so many inexperienced riders either launching too close, in the wrong direction, or upwind of others setting up directly down wind of them.
What I'm saying is, we all know our local riders either by real name, forum name or face. So when some one new arrives check-em out to see if they tow the line and respect "local" rules...
There are those out there that crack the ****s with others approaching them and either offering/giving advice as to local rules. Just remember these guys/gals are the ones with the problem not the locals that respect/protect and police their much loved spot...
Like I said get australian about your local spot and defend, preferably with words before actions !
Heres an example I saw one day at my local, this spoke to me more than anywords could !.
This student was under instruction from the local school, however this student kept flying his kite directly upwind of others in the rigging, which I might add is very tight. This student crashed his kite three may be four times onto others which were very polite and lauched the students kite again. After a while one guy had obviously had enough and when the student crashed on top of him and stood there waiting for this guy to smile and launch him one more time, he simply turned the kite face down and placed sand on it !
