I would like to say a huge Thank You to the SOS Surf team in WA for the best kiting year in to the sport that I could have wished for.

I am not pimping and this isnt a dirty plug for a business or a family member saying nice things, it is just a forum posting from a very appreciative first time kite surfer.

I have been kite surfing properly for about one year now, so I dont think I am qualified to give advice on kite equipment. But one thing I would say when buying gear is to make sure you have the right people backing you up all the way.
I feel that John, Andy, Mark, Simon and all the team at SOS have had my back 100% of the time, these guys are awesome and truly embrace the passion of being out on the water.

Why would somebody write this?... well let me tell you: whenever I have had problems with my gear the first thing these guys want to do is get you straight back out on the water, then deal with the issue. When my kite was the wrong type (which really means I was not that flash at kite surfing) the team got me sort on to a more suitable kite. When parts broke the team just sorted it out and got me back out on the water that day, then dealt with the issue while I was enjoying the seabreeze.

In the kiting world where working your way through the recent excitement about the latest gear and feeling nervous and confused about where to spend your hard earned money, remember a team that has your back is gold.

So many thanks again to the team for keeping my feet wet all year round, keep up the great work guys...

I'll second that, helped me out on many an occasion.

They did so today, sorted a screw for a fin that lost a fight with a rock.

Big thumbs up.

Cant agree more with you guys, to get looked after when buying gear is always great but to make freinds who have the same passion for this sport is a bonus .
These guys are always there to help no matter what you ride or buy

.....yes, they are great guys at SOS, they are passionate about kite boarding, they know their stuff, and they are always ready to help......
Mentioning that, though, I have to say I had similar experience with Choicey....and sure there are others in Perth with these qualities......it's great to have them around....Thanks to all of them

SOS is awesome.
I bought 3 kites till now from them and I caused 300 troubles for them but dude there is no way that you can take the smile out of their face.
SOS guy are best guys ever but I think its fair if I say that;
1) Guys in WindsurfingPerth (Kite Addict) spent so much time to giving me so many good advices and all I got from them was a PFD!
2) Guys from Briskites are always here and answering every technical question we have.
3) Guys from Kitepower ....
4) ....

So as a kite surfer I would say thank you all but John from SOS is the king

I'll add my vote to the list. In the last couple of months I have demo'd quite a bit of gear from various shops in Perth to ensure I was getting the best kite for my needs. My experiences were varied including being given the third degree as to my skill level and experience before the kite was reluctantly handed over - for a prearranged test. In comparison John loaded a friend and I up with about six different kites and came along to the beach to make sure they were tuned well so that we would get the most out of them. Never once was he pushy and his stoke with just being on the beach doing something he loved was evident, which is absolutely awesome from someone who has been in the industry as long as he has.

As we left the beach an existing client turned up and was about to gear up when John said g'day and insisted he take his 9m kite out instead of the client's 12m as the wind had picked up to around 30kt. The guy already had a new season kite, so it wasn't as if John had something other to gain other than good will. After we left the beach my friend said that he was even more impressed as he had personally unwrapped that kite from the manufacturer's packaging for the demo that afternoon.

Both my friend and I ended up buying kites from SOS.

Cheers,

Ben.

Hey Everyone,

I rarely post but this caught my eye. I'll keep it simple.

On behalf of the SOS team:
Thank you very much! This weeks forecast is epic! Go kite.

Best Regards,
Marc @ SOS
