Did it on the 9m and the 12m yesterday. Doing the 16 today

Love it on the 12 turns faster and no presure to really speak of Also great on the 9 to remove the presure but makes it even quicker in the sky than before will get use to it though

All in all very happy with the results we used the Reily pullies as the Ronstan ones were out of stock and 2mm spectra line.

We were out for 3 hours yesterday and no sore arms on return, prior to this I was coming in after 2 with sore elbows

I spoke to a local kiter yesterday who has just returned from 6 months in Melbourne. He reckons that Pete Cabrinha must be driving a Bentley by now judging by the number of Crossbows down there. He reckons they are just about in plague proportions.

Perhaps the effect would be the same...add 2 pullies and you should half the pressure as you now have 4......I thunk

Not sure if anyone thought of this but the modification adds extra length to the ront lines due to the addition of the pully - unless you deducted its length from your lines.

This will explain a few of the comments on appearing to have slightly more power and that you can now rest the bar on the stopper without if starting to fall from the sky. And the desire for some to use a different knot for the back lines

I don't think it is really that much of a big deal for most people but by doing this we have added about 2-3 cm to the front line

I tried the modification on my 16 and noticed two things. Yes, the bar pressure is significantly less, but the kite also has less loft and pull. I think the static connection involved is designed to control the load onto the two lines coming off it, delivering more tension towards the centre of the kite, making the kite fly flatter. I seem to notice the kite looks more folded now.

I believe it is a trade off, but probobly well worth it for most, as it's all about pleasure.

I've also tried one step further and replaced the next "two into one" junction (above and towards the centre) with a pulley. This takes the effect another step lighter and less power. (wouldn't recommend it.)

These kites are designed in a wind tunnel, so they wouldnt be able to instantly test how the kite turns, as they would be able to test the static forces. I'd love to hear someone from Cabrinha R&D comment on this.
