I am sure WSP will be getting a demo in, if they dont you can grab a go of mine when they come into the country. May be available in Late July. Still waiting to hear on a set date for the release.

Wow yeh, it looks so finnished, just because it has logos on it...
I hope all these new kites work well, then hopefully they'll compete and non of them will be rediculously expensive...

I am a little bit suss about these 2, just because flexifoil tried and couldnt get good results... and they would know more about building kites than most... But i do hope they all work well...

Edited to add: interesting that cabrinha bought a license to the patent for the design... so they havent really designed ****e, maybe tweaked and modified a little...

I thought that promo vid was pretty crap.

Showing the kite struggling to fly on the beach, then showing it crash into the water heaps of times. Then it showed the rider doing downwinders. Then it showed a rider doing a jump and crash landing?

Is that the best footage they could get of the kite?

Just my personal opinion.

That's a bit harsh.

The kite is 6 feet off the deck, surrounded by palm trees and more importantly we expect a super responsive kite and you wonder why it is moving about.

As the rest of the vid, I think it showed:
- how much the kite depowers when your riding a wave (and want it to depower)
- its ability to relaunch (my big concern with the shape was it truning inside out once it hit the water)
- That it is clearly a fast turning and big air kite

Maybe this are just positive thinking, but my approach is still to hope for the more and more improvement and innovations. Huge respect to Cab/Takoon for taking such a risk.

As for the negativity, perhaps you should remeber how kites used to fly back in 2001.

hehe, now that is interesting... wonder what the reasons are... perhaps they're not even sure if its going to be released yet? surely they don't think they're keeping it secret?

Thats pretty close to finished. Colours, logos and proper pigtails/lines are the last things to be sorted before going to production. So thats the final design barring any major design faults ie exploding.

The flexifoil nexus is a very different kite from this.

I actually saved a copy of the page (including pics) before it went down. Now, do I host it somewhere for the world to see?

OK ladies and gentlemen before viewing the image(s), you all must agree to read this:

1. I am not sponsored by Cabrinha; I do not ride for them and am not in any way affiliated with anyone who does, nor am I affiliated with a Cabrinha retailer, importer or distributor. If I was I would not be posting these images;

2. I do ride cabs myself and love them. I have spent literally thousands of my own dollars on them and plan to purchase these new kites ASAP as I highly respect the Cab design team. Since I have spent this money and plan to spend more with them I post these images guilt free;

3. Everyone knows about it already, the distributors have seen it and I believe the official release date is planned for around August;

4. What do we all know? Sizes, 16, 12, 9, 7; designed by Bruno Legaignoux (the inventor of the inflatable kite), with the underlying aim to have the benefits of both the foils and inflatables combined into one. Takoon and Cabrinha have both licensed the patented design. There is heaps of info out there; I won't go into it here - other than to say that as per normal, Cabrinha has put a lot of effort into the bar design set up (which has pulleys to increase turning speeds);

5. My prediction is this (it is my PERSONAL OPINION): the kite design will become the new direction in kites - after all - this is a kite with no need for a safety (you still need a leash obviously) as it can be 100% depowered by pushing the bar out. However my guess is that initial versions will have poor support for unhooked riding. My guess is that they will also bring out a C02 equivalent (a few months after the initial version which will replace the Nitro). I also think that the second generation bar will be better for unhooked riding.

6. I wish I was on the design team for Cabrinha because in my opinion they are on the money (I again refer you to point number 1).

Now - is this legal? Who knows. Cabrinha - everyone knows about it anyway. So why fight it?

i have a copy of the video of it flying, it shows the kite going up, then it suddenly floats down then the operator regains control before it hits the ground, if this is the depower/saftey it looks impressive. if people want to see it and know a place on the net to put it i will upload it (38MB)

A little bird told me that a friend of a friend (definately not me) has a copy of the original video that was attached to that article.

Nexcsatle Justin - Let me know if that can be hosted and I will ask him to send it to you.

It does look pretty sexy

I recon thats a pretty good example of the "Coanda Principle" some one's thinking out side the box...

We're doing it with fabrics, they've just done it with plan shape, good on ya Cab...
