How is it that the wind has been blowing SE at the airport for the last couple of hours but Kurnell is showing NNE for the same period? Is this some wierd wind phenomenom or is the wind meter in kurnell out of wack? Would hate to be out in the middle of the bay caught between the two directions.
No that is typical for Botany bay. I have seen this heaps of times, something to do with the shape of the coast and the land running from south head down through randwick and surrounding suburbs through to the airport and the bay. In a light NE you can also see mini tornadoes forming across the bay after a jumbo lands!!
BOM is definately out of wack , wind is south east this morning and the wind sock on the oil wharf is south east and the BOM says the wind is from the north , same thing happened yesterday,
BOM has the Kurnell weather station out of action and I think its the same one as seabreeze. Anyway Ricardo needs to have a web cam on his roof so we can all see what's going on.

bah - i was at kurnell a few hours ago and it really was blowing strong north when it was blowing south east everywhere else. why would the bom ever give out wrong information?
